Responsible for recruitment of subjects, collection and analysis of motion analysis data for:• Phase II trial looking into the use of Botulinum Toxin A to treat upper limb spasticity in stroke patients.• Three different studies looking into the efficacy of Botulinum Toxin A for the management of lower limb spasticity in individuals with stroke, traumatic brain injury, and incomplete spinal cord injury.• Trial examining the efficacy of viscoelastic supplementation, using Synvisc – an injectible fluid for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee, on improvements in walking function.• Trial examining the efficacy of Body Weight Supported Treadmill Training to recover ambulatory function and improve autonomic nervous system response in incomplete spinal cord injury.• Pilot study examining the effects of balance training on individuals with traumatic brain injury – specifically examining balance during gait and stepping tasks.Responsibilities include:• Maintenance and upkeep of all equipment including: Vicon 612 Workstation, Bertec Force Plates, Cosmed K4b2 portable metabolic unit, Cosmed Quark T12 portable ECG, Kistler Gaitway Force Treadmill, and various EMG collection systems (surface and fine wire).• Instruction of staff, including residents, post doctoral fellows, and visiting professors in the usage of motion analysis equipment.• Development and creation of study protocols (including marker protocols and aerobic capacity tests), consent forms, data sheets, and databases for maintaining study data.• Liaison with IRB on matters related to lab studies including submission of applications.• Liason with CRO staff monitoring FDA trials for use of Botox. • Selection and acquisition of $200,000 of equipment for upgrades in 4th quarter 2004.• Maintaining public relations for the HPMAL through VIP tours and generation of content for internal/external media sources.• Generation of content based on analyzed data for submission to conferences and journals.
