Hyacinth AIDS Foundation is New Jersey’s first and largest AIDS community organization. Providing client services in 7 offices in 6 metropolitan areas of New Jersey, and operating statewide. Hyacinth's mission is to help people live with HIV, slow the spread of the epidemic, and serve as a critical voice in the public debate surrounding AIDS in New Jersey. The clientele consists of people at risk, and those living with HIV/AIDS. Hyacinth helps people gain access to health care and treatment, and provides multiple services such as confidential counseling and testing, support groups, and CDC evidence-based intervention programs. My role is to assist the Director of Community Organizing in community engagement, policy research, engagement speaking, and event preparation. I also co-facilitate the Sisters, Informing, Healing, Living, and Empowering (SIHLE) program, which is an CDC HIV intervention aimed at reducing sexual risk behavior among sexually active teenage girls, ages 14-18. Conducted various public health experiments testing various fishes from the Raritan Bay to approximate how much damage the metal concentration in the fishes affected those who fish in the river. Formulated data sheets and graphs to correlate the cases of food poisoning with the amount of fishes consumed from the river. Researched the effects of strong pesticides on crops in an attempt to reduce the amount of marmonrated stink bugs as they destroy crops during harvest seasons
