Responsibilities:​(1) The development of differentiated capabilities in additive and advanced manufacturing that generate structures and materials with unique or superior performance.​(2) The evaluation and characterization of these structures, materials, and practices including the assessment of means to protect these methods from adversarial observation/interference.​(3) The development of best practices and materials for the deployment of these methods, as well as the effective training of users.​(4) Providing subject matter expertise for and contributions to proposals, reports, publications, presentations and other knowledge products.

* Perform manufacturing tasks supporting research in the area of EBM and laser powder bed Perform and analyze experiments establishing correlations between process and microstructure* Oversee additive manufacturing equipment including both laser and electron beam powder bed including breakdown, setup of equipment, maintenance and operation* Work with the design team on designing for additive manufacturing* Design build layouts and geometries with computer automated design programs* Oversee operations of equipment, organize projects, and notify users of equipment status on a weekly basis* Standardize operations of equipment including digital data, design files, and other aspects of AM Optimize scan strategies by working closely with computer scientists* Communicate frequently and effectively to all team members* Measure and analyze microstructure of metal alloys by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD)* Characterize samples by standard metallography * Nondestructive characterization of builds and powders via computed tomography* Mechanical testing for property characterization* Present and report research results in a timely manner* Ensure compliance with environment, safety, health and quality program requirements Maintain strong dedication to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics
