I studied crystal grain features of Li-ion cathodes with electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and analyzed x-ray diffraction data of graphite anodes. Efforts were dedicated to understanding factors limiting fast-charging in Li-ion batteries for electric vehicles.

I studied development of multi-functional (energy storing and load bearing) pseudo-capacitor electrodes.

I tested and suggested design modifications for safe (thermal runaway propagation resistant), high-power, high-energy dense battery designs for use in terrestrial and space applications. This involved collaboration with various battery experts, thermal simulation specialists, and battery testing experts.Accomplishments:► Nominated and awarded Outstanding Achievement Award ► Developed extensive testing plans and procedures for normal operation and destructive testing of batteries► Evaluated and improved thermal performance of battery designs through incremental modification guided by thermocouple data, IR video, and thermal simulations► Suggested and tested assembly techniques for new battery designs► Worked with vendors to select battery materials that meet electrical, thermal, and mechanical requirements► Evaluated conformal coating quality using visual methods

Our team formulated, mixed, and cast inert solid rocket motor propellant formulations for the Europa lander project. These are used for propellant irradiation studies, planetary protection studies, irradiation model development, and live propellant irradiation procedure development.Accomplishments:► Reduced ammonium sulfate particles production variability► Aided develop a Design of Experiments (DOE) to test propellant formulations► Mixed, cast, and tested over 20 propellant formulations with demonstrated improved properties► Classified particle size and distribution using Horiba LA-930► Developed particle production and characterization procedures

I created a PI Web API plugin and website to easily access bulk data from OSIsoft's PI System in a CSV format or directly from MATLAB, Python, and R scripts. This made integration between PI and data science tools easier.Accomplishments:► Developed website using Python/Django, Javascript, and HTML/CSS► Developed Web API Controller using C#/.NET► Demonstrated tool use in Python, R, and Matlab scripts
