I’m passionate about developing the Linux and Open Source Community. In particular I’m helping to address the Linux skills shortage and improve employability skills of people with Certifications provided by the Linux Professional Institute (LPI).I also help smaller businesses to improve their sales effectiveness and business efficiency by providing Zoho CRM consultancy. My career in the IT industry started in the mid ‘90s:- My roles have been primarily in marketing, sales and management, including 9 years at BT as a product manager for Cisco products. - Linux has been my main technology focus for nearly 10 years, initially as Head of Operations at LinuxIT, Programme Director of LPI-UK and LPI Master Affiliate.- I’ve also contributed to various IT industry projects, for example with British Computer Society (BCS), TDM, and developing the “Linux Essentials” Certification. My two main roles and business interests now are: Master Affiliate for UK & Ireland for LPI (Linux Professional Institute)- I was awarded a 5 year extension to the contract in September 2015, which builds on the existing long standing relationship I’ve already had with LPI. Together we have been developing plans to support and grow the Linux community in specific ways. - I’d like to talk to colleges and training providers about Linux certificated courses and also to the press and conference organisers about employability, technical skills shortages and related issues. Zoho Advanced Solution Provider- I work with business owners and sales managers to help them improve the way they run their sales activity, improve sales processes, gain control over sales pipeline and much more. - I’d appreciate referrals to businesses using Zoho who’d like to gain more benefit from their investment.Outside work I’m really keen on Cave Diving. I first tried this while on holiday in Florida, and now I’m hooked. The best way to contact me is to send an email to bill.quinn@flexableit.com

Md And Business Systems Consultant – Specialist In Zoho1 Cloud Consultants Jun 2012 - PresentBristol UkAs an independent Zoho Partner I help business owners and sales managers to maximise the benefit they gain from the Zoho product suite. My relationship with Zoho, and investment in Zoho skills, is considerable, for example: 2016 – achieved Zoho Creator Certified Developer2014 – one of the first 17 in the world to become a Zoho Advanced Solution provider2012 – Partnered with Zoho and started to provide consultancy, implementation, training and support2010 – started to use ZohoWithout careful and progressive implementation of Zoho user companies only gain a fraction of the benefits that they could achieve.Relationships with clients start at several points such as when they:- recognise they will benefit from a marketing and sales system and approach me to help them choose a CRM.- have chosen to use Zoho and they are now looking for a delivery partner- they attempted to implement Zoho themselves and now recognise they need help- started to implement with another consultant but now want to switch to get to the next level- want to learn how to get more out of the Zoho product suiteMy approach to each Zoho implementation project is very client centric, but most projects cover: - Goals / KPIs – What are you trying to achieve? - Scope – assessing and prioritising what should be tackled- Business Processes – it’s surprising (shocking) how much benefit can be gained by revaluating and improving sales processes- Data migration, cleaning, capture, analysis – I’m quite obsessive about data because it is central to value- Training – when people understand how a CRM system will help them do their job better the benefits improve significantly- Systems Integration – clients often have other systems in place, or will benefit from additional apps such as Google Apps and PandaDocs, and I can advise and guide them.If you, or someone you know, would like to get much more from their Zoho system please get in touch via email to info@FlexableIT.com -
Founder – Raising The Profile & Professionalism Of Linux Specialists Through CertificationFuture Cert - Master Affiliate (Uk & Ireland) For Linux Professional Institute (Lpi) Dec 2012 - PresentBristol, United KingdomIn September 2015 LPI awarded a 5 year extension of the Master Affiliate agreement to me and my business. This is a major commitment from both sides to the development of the Linux Certifications within the UK and Ireland region. The Linux community has become something of a passion of mine. There is a real and tangible skills shortage that I am actively working to address.I passionately believe in the value of raising professional standards within the Linux community to benefit these stakeholders: - IT professionals who are developing their Linux skills. - The globally recognised Certification improves employability and access to well-paid roles and projects. - Training providers who run Linux courses. - They benefit by having independent assessment and qualifications that they can award – which increases the standing of their courses and training.- Companies and organisations using Linux. - They can access skills by identifying and engaging well-qualified Certified Linux professionals. My mission now is to spread the word about LPI Certification within and beyond the Linux community in the UK and Ireland. However there is a much bigger story to tell as this is the latest step my relationship with LPI that goes back nearly 10 years: - I first came across Linux during my BTEC studies in 1998 - In 2007 I joined LinuxIT and, as Head of Operations, negotiated the agreement for LinuxIT to take on the Master Affiliate for LPI in the UK and Ireland from October 2008.- In 2011 I joined TDM who subsequently took on the LPI Master Affiliate agreement.- In 2012 I set up FlexableIT which then took on the LPI Master Affiliate agreement. - In 2015, with the 5 year extension, it was appropriate to set this up as a business in its own right, separate from FlexableIT. The reason I outline this is to highlight my commitment to developing Linux professionalism as well as an awareness of the importance of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software). -
New Business DevelopmentTdm Ltd Mar 2011 - May 2012TDM (Training, Development & Management) are an Open Source web development and CLOUD Solutions company. TDM develop MLE (Managed Learning Environment), VLE (Virtual Learning Environment), LMS (Learning Management System), ePortfolios and create course content and deliver Learning and Skill Council funded learning & development programmes. Typical solutions are built on Moodle, Totara, Mahara, Xerte. All technical staff are LPI Certified. Solutions are delivered through TDMs CLOUD solutions.I was initially recruited on a short term contract to focus on LPI Certification. How can TDM drive Linux training, and increase Certification rates utilising LPI as the market leader for Linux Training. By the end of the contract I was retained as a consultant to advise on critical business decisions, how to develop the company. In 2011 I successfully won the LPI Master Affiliate Contract for TDM.I currently work within TDM to grow LPI Certification in the UK – doubled in the first six months of TDM becoming Master Affiliate. Identifying opportunities for eSolutions that TDM can deliver, develop and host – primarily eLearning / ePortfolios. Recruiting companies that will take an Apprentice, and subsequently providing an Apprentice through the TDM Wyre Academy. -
Senior Product ManagerBcs, The Chartered Institute For It May 2011 - Aug 2011Employed on a short term contract to focus on two critical products – Digital Skills and Digital Creator. Digital Skills is an exciting Entry Level 3 Qualification for Digital Literacy that I successfully launched in July 2011. Digital Creator is an existing product that was underperforming. Digital Creator is an innovative product that combines ICT with creativity – aimed at GCSE level. In the three months I had to create a launch strategy, marketing plan and sales plan for Digital Skills. I had to ensure that Digital Skills would launch on the agreed date without failure. The role involved coordinating a number of different teams – Marketing (Graphics, Copy, Web), Product Development, Platform Development, Client Services and Sales. Digital Skills successfully launched on the 19th of July and initial Sales proved positive against target.Digital Creator is a product that was failing in a number of aspects – Achievement against target, Delivery, Customer expectation / satisfaction. I had to create an action plan of recovery. Where necessary I had to cease development of the product as their was no tangible evidence that the investment required was going to deliver results. The conclusion was a hard decision to cease sales of the product, redevelop the product into what the market needed, re-launch the product, fix the delivery platform, engage with the sales teams to ensure that had the tools to successfully sell the product and improve the overall customer / end user experience. -

Product ManagerBt Apr 1998 - Mar 2007Initially joined BT in a Sales Role, moving through to promotion to Product Specialist in Defence and Government. The last five years were spent as Product Manager for Cisco Products. I reversed a three year decline trend of 12% per annum and grew the business from c£30m to £178m in eighteen months. During the same period I accelerated the net profit return to £32m. The Product Manager role was primarily an internal role, managing the in life process of specific Cisco products. In collaboration with Account Teams, Managers and Customers I had to identify the appropriate products to launch into BTs portfolio. I had to create a strategy for medium and long term growth in a highly competitive market. As a Product Manager I had to provide bid support to account teams. This could either be secondary support or direct customer interaction, articulating BTs Information and Communications Technology capabilities and strategy. This could be at any level within a company so the appropriate language and message needed to be utilized. I was regularly involved with the procurement and supply chain of Cisco’s products. This could be either direct with Cisco or by utilizing third party re-sellers. This involved negotiation, discount strategy, currency speculation and contracting. -
Channel Manager Uk, Ireland And RomaniaSoundcraft Studer Jun 1995 - Apr 1998I was employed by Soundcraft Studer as a Channel Manager for Ireland, United Kingdom and Romania. Soundcraft is the largest manufacturer of professional mixing consoles in the world. I was employed to sell the Soundcraft Portfolio to resellers, system integrators and selected direct clients. I had to identify potential new suppliers, recruit them, train them and ensure they delivered against target. I was also part of the product development team. Through strong relationships, customer feedback and market demand I contributed, tested and marketed the world leading Soundcraft Ghost and Series 5 mixing consoles. I succeeded at Soundcraft by identifying new business opportunities, building relationships and building trust in the key verticals.
