Teach six sections of College Success Seminar in fall and Sophomore Transitions in Spring - courses aimed at assisting first year students transition to the college life, ultimately moving students toward responsibility for their own academic goal achievement.Identify and address student transition issues through meaningful, intentional conversations. Refer students to counseling & other College resources when applicable. Participate in appropriate college events such as advanced registrations and new student orientation.Fulfill a wide variety of administrative responsibilities to accomplish these goals.Accomplishments:Built the curriculum for the Sophomore Transitions course, including goal setting, collaboration with Multicultural Affairs for the Diversity Summit, and with Career Services for building a resume and gaining internships, and a lesson on bystander intervention. Director of Housing & Residence Life: Directly responsible for the recruitment, selection, training, and in-service planning for 46 Resident Assistants and 7 Assistant Hall Directors. Matched 700 incoming first time freshmen and transfer students into roommate pairs or triplets, and provide housing assignments for each pair/triplet. Maintained an online presence for the Dean of Students Office on Facebook and Twitter. Created and maintained the "Carthage is Awesome" wordpress website. Advised the Carthage Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary; co-advise Residence Life Council. Energized incoming students at Carthage Advanced Registration presentations, presenting various leadership & involvement opportunities from the Dean of Students office. Hall Director: Managed the daily operations of a 325-bed, corridor style, co-ed residence hall. Supervised, supported, and inspired a residence hall staff consisting of an Assistant Hall Director and 8 Resident Assistants to build a safe community conducive to academic and social growth. Created intentional connections, providing interest-specific opportunities for students’ leadership growth. Facilitated campus-wide and in-hall programming, supporting the needs and interests of a diverse student population. Director of Student Affairs Marketing & Communication: establish and maintain an online presence for the Dean of Students Office on social networking sites; update the Carthage Dean of Students website as needed, create marketing/recruitment plans for student staff related to the Dean of Students office.

Managed the daily operations of a 225-bed, suite-style, co-ed residence hall; supervised a student staff of 6 Resident Assistants; advised 10 hall council executive board members; served as a hearing officer for judicial cases, including violations of the Student Conduct Code and Terms of Occupancy, and assigned sanctions accordingly; taught a 1 credit, semester long introduction course to the University. Advisor, National Residence Hall Honorary: supervised one graduate assistant co-advisor; advised the development and expenditure of a $3,500 budget. Instructor, HIV Risk Reduction in the Campus Context: Created 100 minute lessons for students enrolled in 6 hours of upper division credit; advised and mentored individual students in their process of becoming peer educators.
