Analysis/Policy-Acquire new data sources from public and private entities; create legible, functional databases with well-described metadata; produce data specific to the needs of the Commonwealth from national or local products. I provided technical assistance, primarily in the application of Geographic Information Systems and the creation of the regional plan. I was involved in projects related to community development, land use, recreation, infrastructure management, transportation, and the many other components of local planning.

I worked with conservation professionals to produce primary cartographic information to be used for further spatial analysis. I used ArcGIS and GPS technology, maintained and built trail networks in databases and on the ground.

I helped students with GIS assignments, held one-on-one and group study sessions, and reviewed assignments generated by the professor before distribution to the class. I feel as though the position provided me with irreplaceable experience learning how best to help others develop their abilities, while gaining some insight to troubleshooting in ArcGIS and other geographic software.
