Conservation Division Manager
Current-Oversee and coordinate grant management staff who implement grants received and award grants for the following:• Grants received include 1) Conservation Innovation Grant from the Natural Resource Conservation Service – National Award for Soil Health; 2) United States Environmental Protection Agency Section 319 Grants – 25 Mile Creek enhancements, Owens Field Stormwater and Trail, and Gills Creek Restoration for water quality protection efforts.• Grants awarded include 1) Annual Historic Preservation and Community Conservation Grants -$250,000-Manage staff for the Richland Soil & Water Conservation District and the Richland County Conservation Commission (RCCC) to implement their missions to conserve and promote natural resource and historic conservation through grant awards, conservation easements, land acquisition, educational outreach efforts.-Developed and implemented largest mitigation bank in the State using transportation funds and grants reducing permitting delays and saving millions for county projects.-Work as liaison for the RCCC to help direct Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant Funds, Flood Mitigation Grant Program, and Community Block Development Grants for the October 2015 flood and subsequent floods.-Directed and oversaw the acquisition of nearly 3,000 acres of floodplain and 300 acres of easements for conservation purchases.-Began program to develop and implement eco-tourism in Lower Richland area as an avenue for economic development tied to conservation programs.-Collaborated with Planning Department to develop Green infrastructure Model for entire county in order to direct and organize conservation efforts based on landscape level analysis.-Oversee staff and contractors who manage all aspects of over 3,000 acres of conservation land and easements as well as 2 county parks including ponds, rivers access, walking trails, forestry operations, road and building maintenance, leases to outside parties and other items.
