Competent educator having experience teaching and advising in both secondary and postsecondary local education agencies. Since October 2012 until present I have been employed with Central Piedmont Community College in the College and Career Readiness department. I currently instruct, facilitate three Workforce Development supplemental courses (remotely since COVID restrictions) - Career Exploration and Working SMART (a comprehensive 5 modules, 16 lessons soft-skills course for workplace success), for the college's native English speaking and Immigrant student populations enrolled in the English as a Second Language program. My current position since August 2018 has proven to be challenging, rewarding, and most satisfying both personally and professionally. Additionally, my tenure with CPCC has afforded me opportunities as a Multicultural studies instructor (Adult High School), recruitment and retention specialist, advisor, assessor, presenter, facilitator - within Pathways To Careers (Workforce Development) and Student Intake. Prior to CPCC, I taught for Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools (2005 - 2011) in a Title I middle school with a student population that consistently ranged during my tenure between 1100 - 1200 students. Experienced in developing lesson plans incorporating appropriate strategies for differential instructions - scaffolding, groupings, process integration; additionally experienced in open source and proprietary learning management systems associated with higher learning. Command Sergeant MajorUnited States Army Jun 1982 - Dec 2004Senior enlisted advisor to Battalion Commander responsible for safety, health, welfare, discipline, professional development, and morale of a 400 to 700 (peace to war numbers) manned Personnel Services (Human Resources) Battalion; inclusive of two combat tours in Southwest Asia theaters of operations. I was an integral part in the planning, implementation, and assessment of soldier training which supported the organization's Mission Essential Task List preparing soldiers to achieve in both peacetime and wartime missions. I served approximately 12 years total in Airborne assignments at Fort Bragg, NC (82nd Airborne Division, XVIII Airborne Corps, and 189th Infantry Brigade, Reserves). I am a Master Rated (JumpMaster) parachutist.
