I'm a proactive problem solver by nature. Growing up, I dreamed of applying that skillset to designing spaces for people to live or work in. My first jobs in high school were for a home builder and a residential architect. In college, I studied architecture and earned a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. From there, I went on to work in commercial architecture, honing my focus on designs for the interior space. After more than a decade in the design profession, I found myself yearning to apply my creative thinking and analytic mind to a job that would have a greater, direct impact on the community in which I lived. I decided to do a ride-along with an Officer who worked at the Austin Police Department. It was a long, demanding 10-hour patrol shift, and I loved every minute of it! The dynamic pace, variety of challenges faced, and attention detail required to be an effective Officer, matched exactly what I was suited to do. I applied for, and was accepted to, the 121st cadet class of the Austin Police Department. Here I am, nearly 12 years later as a Senior Detective. I have found my passion as an investigator, using my inherent abilities as a problem solver and critical thinker to solve crimes. And in each case I investigate, I never lose sight of the victim and/or community I’m here to serve. My skill set includes managing complex cases and making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment; supporting creativity to find unique solutions to problems; rapport building; interview and interrogation skills; victim advocacy; and leveraging data analytics, social media platforms, and open source intelligence platforms to help solve crimes.
