• PI on EPSRC Fellowship examining radiation damage in ATF and cladding materials (UN, U3Si2, UB2, SiC, ZrC and ZrN) using advanced TEM techniques and TGS to study effect of ion irradiation damage on thermal conductivity.

• Research of carbothermic reduction and nitridation processing method to fabrication non-oxide ceramics from oxides.
• Microstructural and thermophysical characterisation techniques such as microscopy (SEM,TEM), XRD, DTA-TGA, DSC-Cp, laser flash.

• Provide radiochemical and analytical services to agreed customer standards and timescales, working to UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) procedures.
• Analysis of a variety of radioisotope sample matrices using combustion/distillation and chromatography techniques followed by liquid scintillation counting as well as gamma spectrometry of intermediate level waste from.

• Determination of potency and purity of veterinary grade animal feed antibiotics by HPLC analysis with all work conducted under GMP and GLP.
• Development work and optimisation of a current HPLC method used by the company was also undertaken working within relative pharmacopoeias, this culminated in the formal report and presentation as part of third year.
• Delivered time pressured solutions to a real time problem as an outcome from method development project.
