I am fortunate in that I have been able to lead a rewarding and successful career in science, a field for which my natural curiosity and inquisitive drive makes me a natural fit. I have overcome challenges in organic chemistry, combinatorial chemistry, analytical chemistry (both in the discovery and drug development field), and manufacturing and customer relations. Some of these transitions were voluntary, such as during my tenure at Bayer, as I explored the different options available to me, and others were trust upon me due to reorganizations: however, I have excelled at every new opportunity. The key to my success has been to tackle changes as an opportunity to grow my skill set and also grow as a person: thus, every change has been an opportunity I have have gained from. My goal is to continue to grow and challenge myself both professionally and personally: improvement is a lifelong process and I am nowhere near done. I am passionate about discovery and driving projects forward.‘If you are working on something exciting that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed, the vison pulls you in’. Separations ScientistAstrazeneca Aug 2015 - Nov 2020Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, GbAccomplishments:* Developed a workflow for purification of PROTACS compound libraries in a high throughput fashion* Deployed a high throughput method for the determination of exposed polar surface area (EPSA)* Increase the throughput of our chiral SFC screening capacity while reducing the overall screen time by about 30 % (as presented at ACS Fall 2016). -
Purification Support ChemistPro Unlimited, Inc @ Novartis Nov 2014 - Jul 2015Basel, Baselstadt, ChThis was a great opportunity. As a contractor, my role was well defined and I have made significant impacts during my tenure by reducing the sample processing time for chiral SFC separations. The skills I mastered at Novartis have been key to allow me to tackle many challenges in SFC. -
Analytical ChemistSelf Employed Nov 2013 - Mar 2014Experienced analytical chemist transitioning into a new career opportunity.Successfully managed a career search and a transition into a new position to add my expertise to the team at SiO2 Medical Products and continue to grow my skill set.

Research Chemist, SeparationsMerck Jul 2009 - Nov 2013Rahway, New Jersey, UsSelected accomplishments. • Collaborated in the creation and deployment of a high throughput purification workflow for small molecules• Collaborated with high speed synthesis (HSS) group in establishing an efficient workflow.• Performed chiral and non-chiral normal phase and reverse phase method development and preparative purifications of intermediates and final compounds meeting tight timelines.• Implemented at column dilution (ACD) protocol to help purify poorly soluble samples.• Provided equipment support and training on Unipoint and purifications to end-users.• Effectively managed sample workflow and duties of separations lab.• Responsible for a multiplatform laboratory: Gilson, Shimadzu, Agilent.• Performed troubleshooting, repairs and setup of new intrumentationI used my analytical chemistry expertise as a chromatographic purification expert where I helped drive the discovery process by performing challenging putifications by SFC and HPLC, in a high throughput, large scale, and case by case basis. One of my proudest achievements at Merck was being a key member of the team that manged to bring our library purification turnaround time from 7 to 4 days. This position also allowed me the opportunity to learn SFC from a great teacher, Lisa Nogle. -
Chapter Lead: Merck Hispanos Organization Employee Business Resource Group (Ebrg)Merck Jan 2013 - Oct 2013Rahway, New Jersey, UsAs the chapter lead for Merck Hispanos Organization I participated and organized events to promote latin culture at Merck, reached out to the community with volunteering opportunities and promoted leadership courses at Merck, -
Research Scientist IiiNeurogen Corporation Feb 2007 - Jun 2009UsWhen I started this position our group was performing pharmaceutical sciences services for our company. Since I came from a different background, this was an excellent opportunity to learn the challenges in the development area of pharmaceuticals. My proudest achievement was developing and directing validation (at a CRO) of an analytical method capable of detecting a PGI at the 0.01 % level. This was also a great opportunity to learn about ICH guidelines and Drug Substance and Drug Product manufacture, release and stability testing, as well as interacting with CROs.Pharmaceutical Sciences Experience. Analytical development activities supporting projects in pre-clinical stages through early phase II.• Consistently demonstrated expertise in sample analysis with a variety of instruments (HPLC, DSC, TGA, Dissolution, XRPD, VTi, GC).• Acted as lead analytical chemist in number of dealings with CROs.• Co-authored CMC submissions.• Developed and collaborated in subsequent validation of an HPLC method capable of quantifying two genotoxic impurities at the 0.01 % level in API.• Developed HPLC methods for in-process control and release of API in GMP manufacturing runs.• Collaborated with CROs in method validation, Drug Substance and Drug Product release activities and stability testing -
Scientist- Separations SpecialistBayer Healthcare 2005 - 2007Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia, DeBy this time my previous supervisor had left Bayer to pursue other opportunities. I became the main provider of analytical services (HPLC separations) to the medicinal chemistry department. My duties varied from troubleshooting user's HPLC's to developing methods for difficult separations and purifying multigram quantities of lead candidates and intermediates. About 50 % of my work load was Chiral separations via HPLC. This position involved prioritization of the workload to serve the needs of several projects in a timely fashion. I also interacted closely with the high speed synthesis group to help them meet their challenges by tweaking HPLC methods and working with them to design hardware to make their process more efficient. This was my final role at Bayer, where I led a very successful and fulfilling career, I contributed much to their discovery efforts and grew professionally. -
Sr. Associate Research Scientist IiBayer Healthcare 1999 - 2005Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia, DeAfter working in combinatorial chemistry for a couple of years, I had the opportunity to pursue my interests in analytical chemistry and laboratory automation and joined the separations group supporting the medicinal chemistry effort. This opportunity allowed me to further my expertise on separations by hands-on training and taking some short courses. Jon Brice was my mentor and I am luckly to have learned a great deal from him. I also learned how to perform Chiral separations. This opportunity also enabled me to begin using hardware solutions to automate sample handling challenges. -
Sr. Associate Research ScientistBayer Healthcare 1997 - 1999Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia, DeAfter a couple of years, I developed an interest in combinatorial chemistry and joined the combi chem group at Bayer. This was a great opportunity to explore my interests in the use of robotics and automation to aid the drug discovery process while developing skills in solution phase automated synthesis. -
Associate Research ScientistBayer Healthcare 1994 - 1997Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia, DeThis was my first job outside of graduate school. I started as a synthetic chemist doing analoging. This was a great opportunity where I was able to use my training in an industrial environment and started to figure out what role I would like to play in the drug discovery process.
