Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Seismic inversion and true-amplitude imaging are under research. Linearized seismic inversion is derived based on the single-scattering Born approximation. The inversion imposes a scale separation of the subsurface model into long scale slowly varying reference velocity and short scale oscillating reflectivity. In the formulation of the linearized inversion, the forward operator (modeling) and adjoint operator (migration) are extended by some non-physical parameters, such as the subsurface offset, to give the model extra degrees of freedom. The operators may be also extended by angle-domain quantities. The decomposition of dip and scattering angle image gathers by Radon transforming the subsurface offset extension is in the research’s core. Velocity optimization and amplitude analysis techniques are derived with respect to the kinematic and dynamic behavior of the angle-dependent image.
