As a Senior Account Executive in field sales, I promote Cengage solutions to customers across disciplines within an assigned territory of accounts. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of English at UAB, I have served the University through tutoring students and instructing them.As a tutor in the University Writing Center, I worked one-on-one with UAB students in both undergraduate and graduate levels to offer writing feedback. My sessions ranged from brainstorming, outlining, developing ideas, and editing, yet each meeting was student-driven to allow for independent learning as a writer. Though most sessions were conducted in person, I am also experienced in online tutoring, where I worked to provide writing assistance and evaluation to students in a live-chat format.As an instructor, I was responsible for teaching both English 101 and English 102, core composition courses required for all UAB students. These classes of approximately 25 students are designed around the concept of Rhetoric and Research. In EH 101, analytical writing on concepts ranging from Shark Tank to Literary Cover Designs allow for students to recognize and deconstruct the way rhetoric functions both in and out of the classroom. In EH 102, a continuation of these studies, students apply their rhetorical skills by means of a Change Project. The Change Project allows students to choose on topic to focus on all semester-- something they want to change. By sourcing academic research, synthesizing the information, and using rhetoric to create both academic and public arguments, students solidify the basic fundamentals of college-level writing.

As a co-host of the live student radio program "Sports with Schmucks," I provided weekly commentary on all the latest local, national, and international sporting events. I researched statistics, offered analysis and personal opinion, engaged with on-air callers, and even ran the switchboard as a DJ. By putting current sporting events into context with the larger spectrum of sports history, our show offered relevant and interesting insight to our audience. KVRX-FM also allowed me to be active in the Austin community through various events and volunteer opportunities.

As a lifeguard at the Gadsden Country Club, I ensured the safety of swimmers and all patrons by monitoring swim activity, enforcing rules and regulations, and maintaining a safe swim environment. I gained experience in rescue techniques, CPR, and first-aid services. I also offered swim lessons to children of all ages, a service which allowed me to actively engage with members while contributing to a safer pool experience for all.
