Thank you for visiting my profile! I am Russ and I am an aspiring astronautical engineer currently looking for the right MS research opportunity. I am finishing up my 4th year at The College of William & Mary with a BS, Honors in Engineering Physics & Applied Design, with a minor in mathematics. Having worn many hats throughout undergrad, I developed an interest in several different fields and activities. I represent my values steadfastly wherever I go, and I am always ready for the next challenge.My first research exposure started freshman year of college, working in Professor Seth Aubin's lab studying the basics of ultra-cold AMO research. I moved on to designing and improving their microwave amplifier hardware, using components such as voltage regulators and optocouplers. Junior year, I also assisted in web development for Dr. Ran Yang's company, Medchai. Medchai seeks to develop an AI-enhanced laryngoscope, which has exposed me to several facets and libraries centered around ML. My senior year project with Professor Saskia Mordjick will explore novel, non invasive methods of plasma diagnostics via Rydberg EIT.I began my work experience in the summer of 2022 through the STEM education world. The Science Museum of Virginia is equipped with a large makerspace, which served as my home to teach museum attendees about the methods and equipment we employed. The following summer, while working at NIWC Atlantic in Charleston, SC, I primarily developed the framework for a tabletop, wireless-communication-focused Rydberg-atom quantum sensor. For summer 2024, I am working at NASA Langley as a research associate as I assist in code development for HLS. Specifically, my team is working on implementing an OSQP into C so that HLS can calculate its offline trajectory to the moon.My extracurricular leadership experience began with my time as a sprinter on the W&M track team freshman year, where I saw what it took to be successful as an elite athlete. I've continued to explore my athletic abilities as a two year member of Club Rugby and a newbie to Water Polo. I am also a founding member and President of the Tribe Rockets, where we explore astronautics and build model rockets.
