I was once told that my science degree came in handy for all the fantastic work I'd done as science subject lead... but here's the thing, I don't have a science degree! I think this highlights the type of person I am - give me a job to do and I'll give it 100%, whether it's my area of specialism or not.My full cv is pretty varied: babysitter, waitress, temporary auxiliary nurse, telephone operator, nanny in California... these were my jobs through high school and university. They funded my social life but, more importantly, gave me some amazing life skills, taught me a lot about myself and gave me invaluable experience. Plus, I got to meet some wonderful people along the way.Fast forward to my graduation and I had to make a decision, where would this life experience take me? I chose education and qualified as a Primary School Teacher in 2007. I worked for 7 years in English schools, becoming science subject lead, computing lead, KS2 lead and taught years 4, 5 and 6 in the process. I came very close to being a deputy headteacher too but had the opportunity to work in the USA instead - combining my love of travel and meeting people, the decision to move was a no-brainer! Travelling on a J1 visitors visa, I spent 3 years teaching 5th Grade, sharing best practice in Tarboro, a small town in North Carolina. As a global school, I had the opportunity to work alongside teachers from all over the world. It was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. From there, I moved to Spain and worked at the British Council School in Madrid. I began learning Spanish and immersed myself in the Spanish culture. Although my time there was relatively short, I loved the city and met some life-long friends.I now work for Cornerstones Education Ltd - an online curriculum company. I began as a writer, creating curriculum content. From here I moved to being a Curriculum Adviser, working directly with schools to help them design their curriculum and providing training on using the platform. I now work as a Senior Manager - Sales and Retention, managing a team of Curriculum Advisers. The team handle all sales, retention and support, so my work is varied - analysing, interpreting and reporting on data; improving and developing operational procedures; and working collaboratively across all teams to ensure we have effective customer service. My role also includes working as part of the Development Team, planning product development and testing new features.
