Identification and quantification of Head Contract scope changes and all subsequent negotiations with the Client management team to close out. Assist contract administrators and project managers as needed in commercial matters e.g. claims, contractual issues, disputes, preparing subcontract terms and conditions, and setting up administration procedures for the commercial team. My role includes the delivery of pre and post contract administration duties for the ‘cut and cover’, earthworks and bridges sub projects on St Peters Interchange. The varied role includes:Programming procurement activities against the project schedule to ensure packages are procured in a timely manner. Preparing and issuing tender documentation, conducting tender reviews, contract negotiation and acceptances, award and contract reviews. Ensuring that all internal CDSJV policies and procedures are adhered to during both pre and post contract administration.Post contract commercial management of various subcontractors and major plant, labour and materials suppliers on site, which includes negotiation and agreement of variations, evaluation of claims, back charges and payment. Works include Form Reo Pour (FRP), CFA piling, ground anchors, bridge bearings, precast concrete beams and various earthworks packages. Package values vary from $500k to $10M (AUD). The combined value of the packages I manage is approximately $60M.Management of construction budgets with the engineers / construction manager responsible for delivering the works to ensure packages are procured in a timely manner and within budget, reporting any potential blowouts / savings and acting to mitigate any risks that arise as a result.Identification and compilation of ‘cross-claims’ to the Design JV partner, when appropriate. -
Senior Contracts EngineerUgl Limited Apr 2015 - Nov 2016Sydney, AustraliaSydney Metro Northwest Systems Joint Venture (SJV) was a joint venture between MTR Corporation and UGL, which was formed to deliver the Trains and Systems scope for the Sydney Metro North West and was the first driverless system in Australia. SJV designed and delivered the tunnel systems, rolling stock, rail signaling and overall control systems for the project, which included construction of eight new stations. My role included the delivery post contract administration services for the Systems JV, specifically for the Platform Screen Doors and Radio significant contracts that were valued at $52M and $55M respectively. Responsibilities include: Maintaining regular contact with resource users and contractors to ensure all contractual issues are addressed in an effective/efficient manner. Managing the change control registers for these contracts and ensuring cost to complete projections are maintained and up to date for reporting on a monthly basis. Management of the Modification Impact Request (change) process in respect of both domestic and client led changes impacting all significant contractors and self-performed works. I am involved in both the assessment of these claims and the presentation and substantiation to the client as appropriate. Liaison with colleagues to resolve project-wide issues related to commercial and risk management and provide feedback to senior management on critical contractual issues and advise on appropriate strategy to achieve resolution. Identify improvements in standard documents and processes in order to promote best practice across the commercial and construction team. Conducting tender reviews, contract acceptances and contract reviews. -

I have been involved in the project from the early development stages, including agreement of the Target Cost, throughout the delivery of the works and up to completion of the original scope and additional instructed scope. This $34M (AUD) high profile scheme which saw the truncation of the heavy rail line to Newcastle was delivered in an accelerated programme to meet TfNSW and local government requirements.The role involves the commercial management of various subcontractors on site. This included contract negotiation and agreement of variations, evaluation of claims, contra charges and payment in accordance with the security of payment act. The role also involves agreeing the value of client variations (Target Adjustment Events) along with internal monthly reporting, including cash flow forecasting, cost to complete, accruals, neutrality and revenue forecasting.Management of construction budgets with the engineers / construction manager responsible for delivering the works to ensure packages are procured in a timely manner and within budget, reporting any potential blowouts / savings. -

My role involved challenging / validating any variations that the construction team identified, before presenting them to the client for agreement. My work packages included; earthworks, drainage, concrete construction and external landscaping. The role involved subcontractor procurement, tender analysis, checking and certifying valuations and reporting on the operational and financial performance of these packages.Formerly based on ITV’s Trafford Wharf Project. This £50M project was a prestigious development providing new film, production and support facilities for an iconic and flagship brand, Coronation Street. Duties included commercial management of various M&E package contractors including risk management, value engineering and change control. Until Sept 2012, based on Manchester City Councils ‘Building Schools for the Future’ (BSF) framework programme. This £500M programme involved the delivery of 33 new high schools and academies across the Manchester catchment area, over a 5 year rolling programme. Carrying out commercial and project management duties on behalf of the client on five high school and academy projects which ranged in value from £20M- £40M . Duties involved cost reporting and commercial management of the framework contractor on each project, administering the NEC3 form of contract, which involved agreement of compensation events, early warnings and management of risk, value engineering and client liaison with school and academy trust members. Pre and post-contract commercial management of the council’s framework design and construction schemes to ensure appropriate input from the Academy sponsors into the design and construction process. Pre contract my role involved negotiation and agreement of individual project target costs with framework contractors, including the provision of post contract advice to various members of the MCC site teams across the framework. -

Works involved in the £15M scheme included; major service diversions, box jacking, embankment retaining walls, platforms, surfacing and landscape works, platform canopies and waiting rooms, new track, overhead electrification works, CCTV, passenger information, fire and evacuation systems and the external roads and paving.Duties on both projects included, cost control and reporting, preparing monthly valuations, subcontract procurement and management, agreement of measures, final accounts and general contract administration.Preparing cost value reconciliations, monthly and quarterly cash and ‘end of life’ forecasts.Establishing the target costs for projects then managing the budget and monitoring commercial performance and costs throughout to achieve a desirable contribution to group profit. -
