EeBria is the UK’s leading online marketplace for craft alcohol. Founded in 2013, in June 2015 the business launched the wholesale arm of the business, EeBriaTrade, connecting bars and restaurants directly to UK breweries. Now the business' focus, the range includes casks and kegs of craft beer as well as bottles and cans direct from breweries, cideries, vineyards and other drinks makers found nationwide. Working with well over 650 breweries and with a team of c15 employees, the business became part of the Beer52 group in early 2024.I've transitioned over the years from solely supporting the business in my own time at launch, through to a part time role alongside other part time roles for a number of years. During the covid-19 outbreak in 2020 I moved into a largely full time role in the business, spanning Finance, HR, Legal and Operations but with the flexibility to support the other businesses in my consulting portfolio and pick up selective contract work (under the untangle-consulting umbrella) at my discretion. I took a step away for maternity leave in February 2024, coinciding with the transition to the new management team.

Untangle Consulting was set up to cover my portfolio of clients looking for contract only consultancy support. Working with fast growth businesses to help them handle the increased admin requirements that come with expansion and success, and also unpicking the damage from periods of under investment in a finance department, I've helped untangle a number businesses since 2017. This has included providing either temporary cover for a stretched finance team, bridging the gap before the first senior Finance Director hire or advising the board where they need some director level financial support in a complex but short term period. I also specialise in short term project work such as internal process reviews, external reporting or accounts system overhauls and forecast modelling.After taking a hiatus on consulting work during the coronavirus pandemic I worked with Broadwick Studio / Soho Streets from Apr 2021 until my maternity leave in Feb 2024, working on a one day a week basis, helping them hire and bed in a totally refreshed finance department and new project management systems to cope with the huge level of success they achieved in a space of only 2 or 3 years.I previously worked for a significant time from May 2018 through until the pandemic in 2020 with Tribe Marketing, an Aldgate based experiential agency with 15 years experience delivering projects for the likes of Coca Cola, Nestle and Christian Dior. Working as a long term management/board advisor and mentor to the internal finance team, I was responsible for training and project managing them through a business restructuring and year(s) of significant turbulence back into solid profitability.Other clients in 2017/18 included: Vanquish Wine, 31Dover, LoveCrafts, EAVE

Broadwick Studio is an independent multidisciplinary creative studio working with partners worldwide to deliver events, campaigns and content leveraging their exceptional creative, campaign, retail, spatial design and production expertise for some of the world’s biggest brands. Having grown out the world of festivals and live music, they now work with brands globally to create meaningful experiences, content and installations across music, culture, sport, retail and fashion.Brought into the team in 2021 after the covid-19 disruption put in person events on hiatus, the role involved building back out a functional finance and operations department largely from scratch and resolving a significant skills gap in the team and 1-2 year backlog in functional finance reporting systems.Working 1-2 days a week with the team, a fully functioning finance and ops team has now been built out to support the business, with all finance, ops and HR functions now in house. In that time projects have also included installation of a new accounts package (Xero) and an end to end project management system (Procim) both successfully launched (and pain free) with the tools established for the business to grow exponentially without losing track of their financial success.Some key areas of expertise from this role:-Project Revenue Recognition (GP, Deferred Income and WIP)-EU 13th Directive VAT reclaims-System installation, Team Training and Super User experience with project management and accounts systems (Xero and Procim)-Rate Card negotiations and management-Rebates Schemes and Contracts

Launched in 2012 by Central Saint Martins trained Levi Palmer and Matthew Harding, palmer//harding is a designer fashion brand based in central London. Through their progressive design and ever evolving collections, palmer//harding have become synonymous with the shirt, often being referred to as "the shirt boys". Based near Old Street, the growing brand and team of c.10 has wholesale customers across the globe, ranging from boutiques to high end destination department stores as well as a growing direct to consumer ecommerce revenue stream.Working in their team on a flexible basis as a Financial Advisor (up to 2 days a week) I joined the team initially to set up their finance processes, bring the accounting and payroll function in house and advised the owners as they moved into the next stage of their business from start up to established brand.

Tribe is a multi service agency working with household brands (Dior, Nestle, Coke and Amazon) offering events staff from their nationwide pool of ‘BrandWarriors’ and bespoke experiential marketing campaigns.In 2018 they were going through a significant transitional period and had tried multiple solutions for a finance leader over 2 years without success. Offering ‘excel magic’ and expertise across operations and HR I helped them get back on top of their plans and restructure their overly complex company structure. I then worked closely with their team across the whole business, rebuilding their controls and reporting, using the commonly underutilised areas of their Paprika software system. With a strong and capable finance team quickly in place, I moved to a more commercial role, working closely with the new business teams on pitches, rate card negotiations and as an advisor to the directors from a legal and strategic planning perspective. I stepped down when the pandemic forced them into a hiatus, offering ad hoc support wherever possible.

Chemistry believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to be brilliant at work and they spend their days doing some seriously cool stuff around the prediction of people performance. Their customised and scientifically robust assessments have a positive impact on hiring process efficiency, hiring experience and quality of hire, which drives real commercial outcomes for businesses. Joining the team on an interim contract at 4 days a week (to fit alongside my work at EeBria), I worked with Chemistry for 12 months to help bed in their new project management system (Krow an add-on to Saleforce) and cope with the huge expansion in the team from 30 to 70 people. Working with an outsourced finance function I handled the reporting and analysis, also working across the teams internally to instill financial processes and acumen, especially within the Sales team. Cashflow management was key as well as payroll and taxes in both the UK and the US. While in place, I overhauled the management accounts and forecasting tools and prepared data rooms and detailed forecast models for two Asian due diligence events.

At the time of joining, Evidently was a multinational group, employing 40 people and turning over £4m+ annually. The company was expanding rapidly after a £1m investment. The company created films and content for large brands such as Dove, with all finance and senior management handled by a small team in London.Brought in to support the CFO, my remit was originally to introduce formal process to the department and produce detailed project analysis information to the client facing teams. After 18 months, I was promoted to FD taking on full responsibility for the finance function.For the last 2 years I worked directly alongside the COO and CEO while the company looked to redefine itself, restructure and ultimately attempted to achieve a sale to a larger media group.Experience during my time at Evidently included:- Identified and oversaw the roll out of a new Management Information system for the business (Paprika).- Designed fully automated management accounts, including consolidation and dept P&Ls. - Created and monitored the key company KPIs (cash flow, sales pipeline, utilisation).- Presented at monthly board meetings and prepared the board communications.- Oversaw the external accounts preparation, VAT submissions and Corporation tax for 4 countries.- Completed quarterly forecasting and scenario modelling for the business restructuring.- Registration of new legal entity and wind up of another.- Acted as company’s due diligence liaison with a large publicly owned US media group.- Rate card and contract negotiation with Unilever and Whirlpool groups.- Whilst operating as FD I also provided maternity cover for the COO for 6 months.- Interviews, appraisals, exit interviews, settlement and redundancy meetings.- Managed payroll and associated taxes for 4 countries.

At the time, an owner managed group of 3 companies with a workforce of 15. With sole responsibility for finance and HR, I built their financial systems from the ground up, leaving when they had a viable process and functional department.

Training and qualifying in an independent department of 40 people in London, I audited SMEs from multiple industries (tourism, TV, cosmetics, recruitment, oil and gas, and international sports bodies) with clients varying from early start ups to household names. I was lucky to be placed in a unusual department with relatively smaller clients and faster exposure and progression internally. With access to board level conversations and the audit partner within the first year I achieved a wider overview of the whole business for each client than the average trainee auditor at a large firm, while still benefiting from KPMG's top level training and practices. Ultimately it was clear I would enjoy the direct entrepreneurial involvement in a single business rather than just the annual audit and I left to work in industry accordingly...

Taking a sabbatical year post graduation, I spent a year working with one of the Cambridge colleges as their Schools Liaison Officer as I felt the need to give back having had such an unexpectedly positive experience at a University I had assumed would be stuffy and unattainable at the point I was personally applying for higher education.This was a newly created role, focussed on outreach, working closely with the wider admissions team in the College and the University. The main goal was to improve access to Cambridge University for under represented applicants, with visits to higher education events, conferences and seminars as a speaker (and myth buster) as well as organising interview training, teacher conferences and other outreach programmes to encourage applications from all backgrounds. I set up much of the program's content, establishing the links to the other school liaison officers and university schemes and creating schedules and materials to be used going forwards for similar events and activities.The role also included more general inspiration and support for schools in Clare College's 'catchment areas' with even primary school classes encouraged to organise day trips to the university. My role was to organise their itineraries, get speakers from the teaching staff and ensure the smooth running of their visits, plus during the admissions season and throughout the year I supported the administration and tutorial support staff in the college offices with student and almuni queries.This was an incredibly rewarding role, but designed to be only for one year.
