Digital Designer
Graphic Designer
Working alongside the marketing department, I managed all in‑house design projects. This ranged from packaging design, creating collateral for websites and email, publication design, creating adverts, art-working for print and brand identities. My body of work within this company is extensive, and ranges from large scale projects, spanning months, to day‑to‑day tasks. My biggest project to date was the branding of a startup, premium coffee brand, Black Nectar. Briefed by the marketing manager, I was tasked to come up with a concept and develop a visual language, portraying an artisnal coffee with a premium feel. I was heavily involved in market research, working alongside the digital marketing team, we visited similar existing coffee shops to investigate the target demographic through interview, photography of their packaging and other desired design features. I utilized photography, collecting online imagery, and had several meetings with other managers throughout the company in order to assess the desired vision. I then developed the research into original artwork through several presentations, which depicted the various routes that could be taken. The presentations involved speaking through various concepts, featuring our research and packaging lockups, and using feedback to further refine our ideas. After the strongest concept was selected ‑ I developed this into packaging, website collateral, tasting cards, full brand guidelines, 3D models for event stands and uniforms. Smaller day‑to‑day projects included me working with the digital marketing team, designing banners and optimizing images for web and email, art‑working collateral for print and producing menu boards. Liaising with the company and clients, I ensured the delivery of any work fulfilled design needs. Other clients I supplied work to within this role include Marks & Spencer, The Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds TSB, amongst many others.
Graphic Designer
During completion of my master's degree in communication design, I worked freelance for one of Scotland's leading community arts charities, Impact Arts. Designing large publications, such as Impact Art's Annual Report, I had to include detailed infographics and user friendly navigation, exercising my skills in UI and layout. I also created the brand identity for 'Cashback to the Future', part of the Scottish Government's CashBack for Communities initiative, which backs projects supporting disadvantaged young people. Collaborating with the marketing department for this project, I helped collate research, produce the concept and deliver the final design. My other projects for this company were mainly designing inforgraphics, highlighting detailed information in a user friendly format.
Graphic Design Intern
During this position as graphic design assisstant, I promoted university events by designing posters, newspaper ads and other promotional materials. I improved on Edinburgh University's brand identity the Torrie Collection by advising and applying design principles, typography, colour theory, and composition to their promotional materials. I collaborated with the illustration department in order to produce ECA's yearly calander and assisted in marketing strategies and research.
