Profile bio

About Rachael Denoncour

After receiving a BA from Emmanuel College in 2015 in both Sociology and International Affairs, in 2017 I received a Graduate Certificate in Genocide and Holocaust Studies from Salem State University. I served as an AmeriCorps member for two years, which brought me to JVS Boston, a leading workforce development agency and nonprofit in Downtown Boston. After working as the language arts instructor for five years in the Adult Diploma Pathway Program, I began managing the program in 2022. That same year, JVS made the difficult decision to "sunset", or close the ADP program. Along with my strong and dedicated team, I worked for the duration of an academic year to successfully end the program, find alternative education opportunities for many adult learners, and ensure program completion for others who were able to earn their diplomas within this short amount of time.As of July 2023, I moved into the Bridges to College & Careers program as the Program Manager. I have the pleasure of managing a program that prepares adult students for college. After six months of academic and career coaching, along with content specific college level courses, our students transition to our partners, Bunker Hill Community College and Quincy College. At BHCC, students are part of a General Studies Program and choose their own academic major and career path. At QC, students engage in career specific programs of either Biotechnology or Substance Addiction Assistance. I am thrilled to lead a talented and dedicated team of instructors and coaches who make this great work possible.I look forward to continuing to strengthen my knowledge of nonprofits, as well as my leadership and managerial skills. I hold specific interests in grants and development, writing, and research.

Listed skills include Reading, Writing, History, Research, and 10 others.

Manager - Adult Diploma Pathway

Boston, Massachusetts, United States

After working as a teacher in this Adult Diploma program for 5 years, I stepped into the role of Manager. I supervised six instructors and coaches, managed an education program that initially served around 100 adult learners, and continued to teach 2 two full-time Language Arts courses. Upon the start of my time as Manager, JVS Boston announced the sunset, or closure, of the ADP program, giving us one final school year (9 months) to teach and graduate as many of our students as possible while also strategizing the conclusion of various programmatic initiatives. After carefully analyzing every student's individual academic standings, I facilitated the transfer of about half the student population to other adult education programs. The remaining half of our students then engaged in an unprecedented, rigorously paced final year of learning with the hope that each would finish their high school curriculum. We had a 100% graduation rate by the end of the program.During my time as ADP Manager while navigating the sunset of the program, I managed course scheduling and placement, student assignments, student records, Massachusetts state exams for high school, student and volunteer work, the creation of assessments, data entry, and numerous additional programmatic responsibilities.
