In my role, I manage a program that prepares adult learners for a college education in specific fields, as well as for a career. I lead a team of talented and educated instructors and coaches, and partner with community colleges in the Greater Boston Area.

After working as a teacher in this Adult Diploma program for 5 years, I stepped into the role of Manager. I supervised six instructors and coaches, managed an education program that initially served around 100 adult learners, and continued to teach 2 two full-time Language Arts courses. Upon the start of my time as Manager, JVS Boston announced the sunset, or closure, of the ADP program, giving us one final school year (9 months) to teach and graduate as many of our students as possible while also strategizing the conclusion of various programmatic initiatives. After carefully analyzing every student's individual academic standings, I facilitated the transfer of about half the student population to other adult education programs. The remaining half of our students then engaged in an unprecedented, rigorously paced final year of learning with the hope that each would finish their high school curriculum. We had a 100% graduation rate by the end of the program.During my time as ADP Manager while navigating the sunset of the program, I managed course scheduling and placement, student assignments, student records, Massachusetts state exams for high school, student and volunteer work, the creation of assessments, data entry, and numerous additional programmatic responsibilities.

Greater Boston Area

In this role at JVS Boston , I worked as an instructor in the Adult Diploma Pathway program within the Academic Services Department. ADP served adults who were seeking to earn their High School Diploma from Boston Public Schools. I taught high school level Language and Fine Arts courses to students in order to help them strengthen and gain the skills they needed to complete assessments and receive their diploma. I shaped much of my own curriculum and crafted unit and lesson plans, as well as worked one on one with students in order to coach them in numerous writing skills. Additionally, I supported the broader JVS community by serving on various committees and engaging in a wide range of trainings.

As an AmeriCorps at JVS, I supported the Adult Diploma Pathway program by helping projected graduates finish assessments in all academic areas in order to review their high school diploma. I taught a basic grammar class, as well as a geometry class. I ran a lunch time tutoring room, and commented on written student work to aid students in revisions and edits. I also proctored testing rooms, and assisted the broader program in various daily tasks.

In this role, I served as a full time staff member at Apopka Memorial Middle School, where I both academically and emotionally supported students. I was also a part time Instructor for U.S. Citizenship Classes at Hope Community Center, in which I taught to prepare students for the U.S. naturalization exam. Additionally, I was a part time GED instructor in the subjects of Language Arts and Social Studies. Finally, I engaged in a multitude of service events and activities to support the local community in Apopka.

Greater Boston Area

I reached out to high schools throughout Massachusetts to advertise the International Humanitarian Law Campaign and Educational Programs offered to students. I also edited information within the presentations about IHL.

I aided a Dr. in Sociology in her comparative research about child welfare in different countries.

I worked as an intern updating the company data base of potential contacts and university partners to secure more international volunteers. I also reached out to these contacts via email, explaining the mission and goals of UP, and invited them to connect with the organization.

I attended five college classes a week, taking extensive notes for a student who was unable to take class notes. After the class was over, I typed the notes emailed them to the student. This position was through the disability support services at Emmanuel College.

I assisted a Professor in English in a course about abolition, slavery, and the Civil War. I worked with first year students to improve writing skills, organizational strategies, and adjustment to college. I also ran study sessions, and provided one-on-one assessment and aid in research. I kept track of attendance and assignments.
