Bicultural and Inclusive Framework Working Group for the NZ Curriculum Refresh - Curriculum Futures

Appointed to work with two Kura Boards of Trustees to establish Aotearoa-New Zealand's first Māori Medium Education Campus, providing education from Kõhanga Reo through to Adult Education. I have developed Education Briefs to assist with new builds for a number of other Kura both in Auckland and in the Waikato area.

Auckland Community Law Centre provides access to justice in the community for those who many not be able to afford it. In terms of services ACLC provides free legal advice, free legal representation, free legal education and free legal clinics, as mentioned, to those who may not be able to afford it.

Residence Grievance Panel's monitor and investigate complaints made by children and young people placed in Care and Protection or Youth Justice Residences. Members are appointed by the Minister for Children.The Korowai Manaaki Youth Justice Residence in Manukau can house up to 46 children and young people.

Provide mentorship to Head of Maori and Beginning Te Reo Māori Teacher. Worked with members of senior Management to consider the establishment of a Rūnanga - a Māori Advisory Committee, to the Board of Trustees.

Māori and Pasifika Support Services (MAPSS) worked on a short term translation project on Rheumatic Fever. This project involved translating in to Te Reo Māori a digital book written by amazing youngsters from South Auckland. This digital book is in the form of an app downloadable to mobile devices. We also provided the Māori language voice talent for this project. Another exciting project to be involved in. Thanks Kiwa Digital for involving us. 🙂

Responsible for establishing Kohuora Campus, the education facility (school) within the newly established mens prison, based in Wiri, Manukau, South Auckland. Developed a curriculum framework, a curriculum delivery plan, and ultimately a responsive education solution based on three key focus areas: education for life, education for employment and education for society. Worked closely with external providers and led an internal teaching team to bring forth a transformative education solution.

Primarily involved in pre-service teacher education. Taught on the B.Ed Teaching (English and Māori Medium) , the Grad Dip Secondary, Grad Dip Education (ICT) specialisation, and the Bachelor of Human Services / Social Work. Developed online Reo Maori Assessments to meet graduating teaching standards. Coordinated government contracts also while at the University of Auckland.

Worked in Teacher Educatiin, preparing university students for the Teaching workforce. This role included teaching on the Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary programmes, in both English and Maori Medium programmes.
