Design Assistant – work placement for George at Asda, Feb-March 2015. During my time at George, I was able to understand how a design team worked together to produce collections from concept through to final production and furthermore marketed and presented in store. I had the opportunity to experience and implement various tasks that are an instrumental process of a designer’s critical path. Below is a selection of tasks that I carried out during my placement.o Attend meetings with suppliers to discuss and develop product and design detail. o Research, update and feedback information on trends, forecasting sites and directional shop information to the senior designer. o CAD work including producing technical drawings and mood boards for various departments. o Working with the design team to help create and present the company trend presentations and designing commercial key pieces. o Attend a final selection meeting with designers and buyers to decide what product to be selected for final production and to determine cost, tiering and grading of the product going in store and online. o Assisting the marketing team with identifying any weekly publications that the company, are presented in, and participating in their social media meeting to share ideas for future online publications, platforms and advertisements.

Brand Manager – Topshop, Sep’13 to present. In my current position at Topshop I am responsible for a team of ten sales advisors. The purpose of my role is to deliver the brand’s expectations and strategies throughout my store. To do this I must gain the teams buy in to ensure they deliver exceptional service at all times and carry out any tasks delegated. This experience has given me the ability to thrive in a fast pace environment and develop myself, and others along the way.oCustomer satisfaction: To deliver exceptional service at all touch points, reviewing and implementing regular feedback from customers to improve our ‘service satisfaction rate.’ And going the extra mile to ensure our customers get exactly what they want, when they want it.oVisit management: Attend, lead and arrange store visits with all levels of management, supply chain, VM’s and retail directors. Showcase the store and brand at all times. oProblem solving: Being an experienced member of the team, my role involves a great deal of decision making. There are many obstacles within the retail sector so I need to think on my feet, be commercial yet innovative, and capable of solving issues should any arise whilst pushing forward any business opportunities. oSales analysis: through detailed analysis of sales reports, stock files and trading patterns I am able to adapt actions and company/store strategies to increase sales, reduce markdown and prevent stock loss. Such attention to detail proves my level of numeracy is realistic and practical with the potential to grow.oStock movement: It is essential that I am accurate and adhere to specific time scales when processing stock ready for collections, transfers and returns to ensure we receive the best outcome and that all stock is accounted for and claims raised where appropriate.
