My first role within BASF was with the Production Support group of Care Chemicals located in Wyandotte, MI. I supported production sites in Kankakee, IL and Lima, OH. I devised laboratory action plans towards process improvement and was responsible for rapidly troubleshooting problems as they arose.

I have tutored many students ranging from 2nd grade addition and subtraction to graduate chemical engineering courses. I enjoy coming up with new ways to keep the interest of my students. For example, 8-bit animals are a fun way to practice area and perimeter! Most recently, I worked with a 4th grade student 3 times per week. I joined the Notestein Research Group at the end of my first fall quarter. I became part of the Dow Carbonylation Team where I studied ethylene carbonylation over metal sulfide catalysts as an alternate route to propionates.

Science Olympiad is a volunteer-led once-per-week after school program for middle school students interested in science. I developed and implemented a curriculum that included 8 complete lessons: both lecture-style components and hands on experimental components that the students could perform. (Attached) I had 7 students (1 5th grade, 3 6th grade, 2 7th grade, and 1 8th grade) in all and the course was incredibly successful. I fully intend to refine and repeat the curriculum.
