About Rachel Alter

Medical student with a strong interest in neurological surgery, infectious disease, and global medicine.I am a public health professional who focuses on infectious disease and health communication, particularly related to vaccines. My interests lie in disease eradication, epidemic/pandemic control, health communication, bioterrorism, and vaccination. My current research examines the origin and dissemination of covid19-related conspiracy theories. I also manage March for Science social media pages, with an emphasis on medical science news and communication.I teach communication tactics about how to have effective conversations with vaccine-skeptics. My undergraduate degree is in neuroscience and writing, two subjects about which I am also very passionate. I have spent a number of years in the hospital setting working directly with neurosurgeons and writing case reports about neurosurgical oncology patients.I also do research related to skull base tumor resection techniques.
