I completed a 12 week placement at Pacson valves where I took on the role as a draughts-person. This involved creating 2D CAD drawings from parts and assemblies as well as creating 3D parts and assemblies. Other duties included updating the supply chain software with new part names and design revisions in order for them to be seen downstream. This allowed me to learn quite a bit about using Access Supply Chain (ASC) where I could create and edit parts as well as create and edit bills of materials. I was also given documents such as design change requests to fill out and change in ASC. I also created name tag labels for the valves and revised old drawings of parts using AutoCAD. I am proficient in using Autodesk Inventor as well as Mathcad. I was also given tasks of doing calculations for pressure retaining units in accordance to the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, which I then went on to use in my thesis, building upon my knowledge.

Through Camp America I was hired as an Art Specialist to create and teach art classes to people with disabilities, with ages ranging from 3-70 years old. I was also involved in day to day life of the campers including their hygiene, eating and class routine. This allowed me to develop skills such as communication due to some campers being non-verbal or dead which was a very big challenge.I also developed my time management and planning in order to deliver 5, hour long classes a day to a huge range of people with different disabilities. Adaptation was a huge part of my job and gave me the ability to change plans last minute in order to accommodate everyones capabilities.

As a sales attendant I helped the public by putting through their orders or assisting them in finding what they needed. I picked up training and the software used very quickly in order to contribute to opening a new store. This involved health and safety when lifting or using lifting aids and how to correctly follow Data Protection when using customers details. Other duties involved putting away our stock and doing stock 'picks' to get customers their orders within the time specification that Screwfix offered as a brand.
