I am a 2024 graduate from the University of Pennsylvania with a major in English and Creative Writing and a minor in Hispanic Studies. In my coursework, I have studied the craft of writing through literature and film classes and creative writing workshops in both prose narrative and screenwriting. I have excelled at analyzing texts, editing drafts, writing original creative and academic pieces, and presenting ideas and drafts to large groups of students and professors in formal settings. A 100-page fiction manuscript I wrote my senior year was awarded the annual Creative Writing Honors Thesis Prize by a panel of professors. My professional and extracurricular experiences have equipped me with strong verbal and written communication skills. As a research assistant for a Ph.D. candidate where I edit audio transcripts, I showcase my reliability in working on projects independently and following directions for formatting documents and copyediting. In my position at the University of Pennsylvania’s Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books and Manuscripts, I worked directly with textual material, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and care for the preservation of rare and fragile texts. I also served as an elected member on the student board of the Penn Association for Gender Equity for two years, including as chair of the organization. In these positions, I conceptualized, planned, and presented educational programs for other students—working in both a self-led capacity and as part of a team—and single-handedly led weekly meetings, delegated tasks to other board members, and presented to and negotiated with university administration. Over the summer of 2023, I interned at the company This Should Be A Movie, a consultancy that sources material for film adaptations for production companies, producers, and independent creatives. In this position, I read written material being considered for film adaptation, wrote coverage, and acquired the vocabulary to discuss both the creative and commercial sides of film production while pitching ideas in meetings.
