Serve as Lab Instructor for the course G10: Introduction to the Principles of Bibliographical Description. "This course is intended for those seeking a better understanding of best practices for the physical examination and description of printed books, especially of the period 1550–1900." I teach/proctor two sections of this intensive course, with students ranging from novice librarians to established collectors and ambitious trades people. The course touches on all aspects of book history and requires a fastidious attention to detail.

Manage a collection of over half a million volumes of rare books, pamphlets and broadsides spanning five centuries, with a particular strength in 18th- and 19th-century Americana. This includes overseeing the acquisitions budget, including multiple restricted endowments; building the collection by working with the rare book trade, by soliciting financial support from individuals and through grants, and by fostering relationships with collectors; judiciously removing materials from the collection; working with researchers to better understand their research needs and to discern research trends; exploring and interpreting existing collections and new acquisitions through articles, exhibitions (both physical and digital), conferences, special events, and tours for individuals and groups of varying sizes; overseeing the processing, cataloging, and arrangement, both intellectual and physical, of all book collection materials; training and supervising librarians, assistants, interns, and volunteers; developing and managing projects involving members of all library departments, including digitization and digital humanities projects, both in-house and with third-party vendors; developing programs with community partners; and developing and implementing collection management policies and procedures covering acquisitions, conservation, loans, deaccessioning, and security.

Teach "The Book: Past and Present"​ in the Book Arts and Printmaking MFA program. Formerly taught "The History of the Book" in the same program.
