As the Recycling and Household Hazardous Waste Coordinator for RecycleMore, my primary focus has been ensuring businesses and residents within the service territory are compliant with state laws related to composting and recycling, Senate Bill 1383 (the California Short-Lived Pollutants Bill) in particular. I regularly participate in meetings with city staff and the agency's board of directors. I plan recurring community repair workshops and assisted in developing and coordinating an Edible Food Recovery grant program for local food recovery organizations. I ensure the agency is up to date with recordkeeping requirements related to hazardous waste disposal and manage a battery box program across West Contra Costa County. I have engaged in customer service by responding to inquiries from the public and businesses over the phone and the agency's info email. I am currently working on revamping the agency's school tour program of the recycling facility.

Through my position with RethinkWaste, I gained much experience with public education campaigns and environmental outreach directed towards children and adults. I coordinated and led virtual and in-person tours of Shoreway Environmental Center in San Carlos, including the Transfer Station and Materials Recovery Facility. I educated the public about sorting guidelines as well as fielded a wide array of questions related to our operations, reducing and reusing, and hard to recycle items. I conducted in-school outreach assemblies and lunchtime sorting instruction, led company tours, designed and facilitated waste-related games, stories, and lesson plans, and worked directly with RethinkWaste’s member agencies to create outreach material for public education. I created social media and website content aimed at educating the public about waste and sustainability issues. I am also familiar and up to date with composting and recycling regulations throughout California, including SB 1383. I conducted public outreach through presentations to a wide variety of community groups as well as tabled in libraries, parks, and farmer's markets throughout San Mateo County. I conducted waste assessments and analyzed the collected data to share with member agencies and community partners. I helped to order industrial waste receptacles for parks and public spaces as well as designed informative signage for the bins.

As a Charles Burdick Global Scholar, I worked directly with WaterAid partners in India to conduct remote ethnographic research concerning how climate change is affecting water supply and communities in rural India. I also had the opportunity to present at the India Public Policy Network conference through the Bharti Institute of Public Policy. Through various methods, I developed an academic report of research findings.

As the Research & Analysis intern for Direct Relief, I imported and created data layers from raw datasets for web publication and developed data visualizations using ArcGIS. I performed manual web scraping to compile information for Direct Relief open data hubs so that they could be used as resources for healthcare professionals. I composed writeups about maternal health to raise awareness and increase web traffic as well as gained increased proficiency with Excel, Microsoft Teams, and Office platforms. I also attended meetings with Research & Analysis staff, developed agendas, and utilized Asana task management software to manage deadlines.

As a global intern, I designed educational materials encouraging students to study abroad utilizing Canva and WordPress. I also spoke to interested students about the application process and my personal study abroad experience at King's College London through outreach methods including presentations, blog posts, and tabling.

As Outreach Coordinator, I organized and planned outreach events, managed the social media and website of my organization, attended meetings with UCSB sustainability staff members, directed organic fertilizer distribution, designed advertising materials, lead educational workshops, represented my organization at tabling events and campus environmental coalition meetings, photographed events, and promoted sustainability, zero waste, circularity, and composting initiatives.

As Head Lifeguard, I enforced pool rules, promoted safety, maintained pool facilities, taught swim lessons to children and adults, communicated with management, supervised other guards, and lead monthly safety trainings. Seasonal Employment.
