I am assigned to students in the first year of University who may have difficulties with various aspects of university life. It is my responsibility to guide them through any difficulties and encourage them to find the necessary help where needed.

This role involves a wide range of duties. The Centre for Widening Participation and Social Inclusion (CWPSI) has a large number of projects year to year to open opportunities of education, in particular higher education, to those with backgrounds that may hinder them in their education. There are also many projects to create opportunities for children, young adults and occasionally those of a higher age surrounding learning. Some of these projects include; Science Week, a large fayre based in the university that is free for schools and the public to engage young people in science, and the Summer University, which is a six week program giving people the opportunity to experience university life, and for those who may struggle to gain a place into university by traditional means, an opportunity to earn their entry by alternative means of proof of ability. It is imperative to the role that I am quick thinking, able to deal with stressful and difficult situations, organised, patient and understanding of the difficulties of others. In this role I have taught the Physics module alongside a lecturer and aided many of the other courses including Computer Science and Core Skills in the Summer University, and been responsible for underage visitors to the University overnight.

A role that involves advertising the university on open and post-offer visit days, including giving campus tours and talks about university life as a student, and my experience within the Physics Society.

In this role my various responsibilities included; copying, scanning and binding documents; answering and transferring phone calls; making meeting room bookings; organising electronic files; sorting, delivering and electronically storing items of post; organising and storing confidential material; odd jobs that required assistance, such as organising professional certificate files and copying large architectural plans.

My role as a Member of the Board of Directors involved weekly conference calls and minute taking, along with aiding the organisation of the various projects the organisation undertook, such as establishing a base with a group in Mongolia to set up a similar organisation.
