I secured a 5-year $5M grant from the CDC and direct an annual budget of $1.65M. I direct PH WINS, the only nationally representative survey of US state, territorial, and local government public health employees used by state and local governments and the CDC to make improvements in public health workforce development planning. I have also led projects unveiling a critical 80,000 FTE shortage in public health, launched the PH WINS survey internationally, and shaped workforce development policy. I am a recognized expert in the governmental public health workforce, with publications in leading journals such as the Center for Disease Controls (CDC) Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) Series, Health Affairs, and the Annual Review of Public Health.
