In my current role as the marketing coordinator at Star Building Materials. I am overseeing and coordinating all traditional and digital media, creating marketing campaigns for seasonal campaigns, and plan & execute events. My role is to also create and distribute email marketing to the correct parties about current industry trends.

In my role at Kahane Law Office, I was the marketing and communications coordinator and client care supervisor. As a part of my responsibilities, I helped network at golf tournaments when the law firm sponsored golf holes. T­­­his helped me develop good communication skills and networking skills as I needed to approach people to market the law firm. Another skill I had developed while working at the law firm was writing blog posts and creating webpages. I have background knowledge using WordPress which is a software that lets you edit and create webpages. This summer student position also developed my organizational skills as I was responsible for organizing scanned files. I organized and assigned client files to different lawyers as well as contacting clients when their file is ready.

At IG Wealth Management, I was the marketing and communications director for the financial advisor, Robin Oxley. Throughout my time in this position, I assisted in the development of a marketing plan, created and designed documents for use within the Oxley team such as a preferred business document to give to clients. During my time, I created different marketing campaigns, designed email marketing communications, and created content for social media. I also gained customer service experience by communicated to clients regularly. I would personally call important clients to invite them to events and organized client gifts. I also created onboarding packages to give to all new clients.

As server in a higher end chain restaurant, it is my responsibility to provide an excellent fine dining experience to guests that I serve. At all times, customer service is the focal point of the position at this restaurant. Each and every customer should have an exceptional guest experience. With all service industry jobs, an important aspect to providing exceptional service is dealing with clients whom are not happy. In order to deliver exceptional service, having strong time management skills is critical. You need to balance greeting clients when they arrive at tables and then need to prioritize the guests first drinks so that they have an incredible dining experience. Working in a restaurant is primarily part of being on a team, therefore running food to tables is also something that you need to fit into your service. Other important skills that I have developed in this position are being detailed oriented and having good communication skills. This is a position in which you have to work in a fast-paced environment as well as working under pressure with a positive attitude to make sure that guests service runs smoothly.

At CSS Office Solutions, I was tasked with a variety of industry specific and marketing projects. I completed market research of the office furniture industry to gain knowledge about competitors. At my time at CSS I effectively communicated with clients for “used chair furniture” sales which gave me background on sales. A major portion of my time at CSS was for marketing, specifically a rebrand. I assisted the company with the rebrand and created a brand standard document for office staff use. Other self-taught skills that I acquired for the rebrand were Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, photography and graphic design.

As a camp counsellor one of the biggest responsibilities is giving campers an incredible experience during their summer, while ensuring that they are safe. Working with young children often means that you are working in a hectic environment. During my position as a camp counsellor, I developed many skills that have been useful in other jobs. I developed organizational skills, and the ability to stay calm in hectic situations, as well as developing problem-solving skills. As a counsellor it is your responsibility to help resolve problems that arise between campers in a minimal amount of time. Another part of the job is being able to work well in a team environment. You have to make sure that you are communicating well with your team, so your campers stay safe, but have a great summer so they keep coming back each summer.
