I was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Redditch and the Villages in 2017. During my time in Parliament I held a variety of positions of responsibility including Parliamentary Private Secretary to four cabinet ministers, and I've served as a Minister in the Department for Transport, Home Office, Ministry of Justice and the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. I chaired Kemi Badenoch's succesful campaign to become Leader of the Opposition and I now lead on strategic renewal of the Conservative Party at CCHQ. I also served as Vice Chair of the Conservative Party twice. Prior to entering politics I have had an extensive career (nearly 30 years) in business. I have solid experience of start up and scale up businesses, including building management and HR teams from scratch around the world. The highlight was co-founding Packt Publishing, now the UK's leading IT content publisher.I have also worked with tech start ups including the talented team at Air, spun out of Birmingham success story Whisk. My political experience includes co-chairing the West Midlands Combined Authority Mayoral campaign for Andy Street who was elected in April 2017. I also stood for election as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Birmingham Northfield in the 2015 general election.
