About Rachel Pullen

My work experience and education have provided me with a diverse base of knowledge and skills, adaptable to many types of work. A love of literature and good writing sparks my interest in work that involves those things, editing being of especial interest as I greatly enjoy rearranging words and phrases to help a mediocre block of text sparkle a little more. Yet I also have experience in costuming and theatre work and am always keen to have the opportunity to work on making or altering costumes and clothing. To add to the diversity my ability to process and remember details makes me adept at planning events, ranging from planning the filming schedule for a literary web series, to assisting with family events, to coordinating road trips. Arranging all the various pieces of an activity until they fit just right is a satisfying puzzle. Whatever the specific nature of my work is, most importantly, I desire to use my abilities to brighten the lives of those I come in contact with, seeing work as an opportunity to help the people around me and to reflect God’s love.

Rachel Pullen Work Experience Details
  • American Arbitration Association
    Document Analyst
American Arbitration Association Mar 2022 - Present
    New York, Ny, Us
The American Arbitration Association is a leader in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). In my work as a Document Analyst working in the New York State Insurance (NYSI) division of the AAA I contribute to the processing of arbitration cases by examining documents submitted by the parties, correctly identifying the documents and indexing them into the correct categories for easy review by attorneys and arbitrators. I maintain a balance of attention to detail and efficiency in this process, indexing approximately 150-200 documents (of varying lengths) per day. In addition to my primary tasks I have joined in other initiatives of the company such as helping to get a mentorship program up and running and participating in the efforts of the division's Innovation Committe.
  • Richardson & Pullen, P.C.
    Paralegal
    Richardson & Pullen, P.C. Sep 2015 - Mar 2022
Richardson & Pullen, P.C. is a small law firm and, thus, though officially a paralegal working predominantly in real estate I wore many hats and was responsible for many HR related matters as well. These tasks included supervising interns, regularly filing various business forms for the firm, initiating the reorganization of a cramped conference room into a bright and functional space and other related tasks. The main focus of my work, however, was real estate. I typically handled approximately 30 real estate files at a time, drafted Deeds, Affidavits, Closing Statements and other documents necessary for closings and communicated regularly with clients, realtors, surveyors, abstract companies and other law firms as we coordinated the various steps of a real estate transaction. This job allowed me to hone my skills in problem solving and attention to detail as I constantly checked for accuracy in my own work and the work of others and analyzed contracts and Deeds on behalf of our clients, noticing potential problems and considering how they could best be resolved.
  • Severe Chill Studios
    Production Manager, Co-Writer, Producer
Severe Chill Studios Jul 2014 - Jun 2015
Severe Chill Studios was a part time, creative business that created literary web series. Our first web series was "In Earnest," a modern, vlog based on Oscar Wilde's famous play, "The Importance of Being Earnest." Our second web series was "REX," based on the legends of King Arthur. My responsibilities were varied and often shaped by whatever needed to be done. Thus I was a script writer, costumes mistress, makeup artist, tech support and set dresser as the need arose. In general however my tasks were ones of management and record keeping. As one of the screenwriters I collaborated with my colleagues to generate witty, thoughtful content and we edited each other’s work to create a polished final product. As Production Manager I reserved filming locations, scheduled filming, and formatted groupware for ease of communication between members of the creative team. As Public Relations Director I drafted audition calls, initiated networking connections and maintained our official social media platforms on Facebook and Twitter. My actions in these roles allowed for a fun, but organized and flexible work atmosphere as other members of the team were able to rely on the accuracy and punctuality of my schedules and correspondence.
  • Office Of International Education - Grove City College
    Student Assistant
Office Of International Education - Grove City College Aug 2014 - May 2015
    Grove City, Pa, Us
From January to June of 2014 I studied abroad at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. Thus, when I returned to my college campus that fall I began work as a student ambassador in the Grove City College Office of International Education. There I helped to counsel other students who were considering studying abroad. I gave them information on different study abroad programs and asked them questions to discern which types of locations and programs would be a good fit. I also assisted in advertising for the office by creating posters and flyers detailing various study abroad opportunities. Sometimes my work in the office was very interactive and sometimes it was very clerical as I researched and compared different programs. I also worked in the passport studio where we took passport photos for students studying abroad. These various tasks helped streamline office functions and ensure that current study abroad students had completed all the correct documentation and were prepared for their semester abroad.
  • Office Of International Education - Grove City College
    Theatre Technician Specializing In Costumes
Office Of International Education - Grove City College Aug 2013 - May 2015
    Grove City, Pa, Us
Working as a theatre technician taught me to be flexible and innovative as I took the initiative in making the costume department an organized and effective working space. As the Costumes Coordinator I implemented innovative ideas for the organization of tools and costumes in the costume shop, restructuring the storage space. I also trained numerous assistants in the safe and effective use of costume shop tools including patterns, sewing machines, sewing shears, irons etc. Apart from my work in the costume shop I also contributed to the effective production of numerous student and visiting artist performances by collaborating with my fellow technicians in the daily running and maintenance of theatre facilities.
  • Sei (Summer English Institute)
    Office Assistant
Sei (Summer English Institute) Jul 2013 - Aug 2013
My work as an Office Assistant with the three week, Summer English Institute, enabled more senior members of the program to focus their time on interacting with and teaching the students. I recorded daily financial transactions and cash expenditures of teachers and program directors, using Microsoft Excel. I aided in assembling and arranging material for student profiles, class rosters and academic statistics. I also handled the organization of any data or scheduling materials as the need arose.
  • Ramada Inn
    Housekeeper
    Ramada Inn Jun 2012 - Aug 2012
My daily responsibilities included making beds, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and vacuuming. I maintained a supply cart, ensuring that it had all the cleaning supplies needed for the day and worked quickly to clean a certain number of rooms per day.
  • Camp Neosa
    Camp Counselor
    Camp Neosa Jun 2011 - Aug 2011
I worked with children of many ages from various backgrounds in an attempt to provide them with positive experiences and share the love of Christ with them. Working as a camp counselor gave me invaluable experience in communicating and connecting with people of diverse backgrounds and ages. As a Relief Counselor I was able to provide breaks to other members of the staff by supervising and entertaining campers while their regular counselors were away. I learned great patience and flexibility as I dealt with behavioral and emotional issues from campers, unexpected weather at the camp, changes in schedules etc. It was a team based work setting in which collaboration with other staff members was essential to the smooth running of camp activities. Though it was a demanding job it was a rewarding one as our efforts and patience allowed for fun and healthy experiences for the children at the camp.
  • Richardson & Pullen P.C.
    Assistant Secretary
    Richardson & Pullen P.C. Jun 2010 - Aug 2010
I worked in the law firm, Richardson & Pullen, for the summer of 2010 as well as the summer of 2014. My position was largely clerical on both occasions. In 2010 I meticulously recorded staff time sheets daily into the computer network. In 2014 I reviewed and sorted old files, in which I learned to identify many different types of legal forms. Both summers I helped cover the receptionist desk and greeted clients amiably on the phone and in person and reliably answered their questions and conveyed their messages to the attorney. I also endeavored to assist paralegals in the office, observing their work, especially in regards to real estate matters. My training was informal but enlightening.
