Want to change the world? Start with parents. A single conversation with Jill Li, founder of Parent Lab, fanned a flame in me that had ignited back in 1999, when I began working in both family education and social and emotional learning. Since meeting Jill, I have worked with Parent Lab to bring transformative parenting education to the most accessible modern medium, mobile devices. I lead a team of researchers who draw insight from a broad array of academic, medical, and scientific disciplines. Collaborating with research organizations, practitioners, and field experts at Parent Lab continues to grow my knowledge and skill set. I hold first-level certification as a facilitator for the Reflective Parenting Program, Parents as Partners, and Tuning in to Kids.I come to this work with 20+ years of experience as a Jewish educator of broad experience and rare depth of learning. As a rabbi with Ph.D.-level academic coursework, I have studied traditional Rabbinic texts, liturgy, Jewish history, Bible, Hebrew language (including advanced grammar), sociology of religion, spiritual development, and conversion experiences. Using my pastoral, teaching, and professional development wisdom, I began a coaching practice in September 2016. At Envision Yourself Coaching and Consulting, I do "Coaching for Real Life," nurturing each client's development of a personal compass - an array of values and talents they can use to orient their life choices. Strengths-based coaching rubrics, such as CliftonStrengths and VIA, bolster my practice of both individual and group coaching. This belief in the power of coaching deeply informs my work at Parent Lab, both as a management activity and in our shaping of parent education. As a freelance writer, I contributed twenty articles to MyJewishLearning.com. My writing has also been seen on Tablet.com and Kveller.com, and I wrote a chapter in The Women's Haftarah Commentary. Working at Parent Lab allows me to draw on my diverse experiences and bring the wisdom I've gained to a bigger, more diverse audience.

Lead ResearcherParent Lab Inc. Apr 2018 - PresentPalo Alto, Ca, UsaUsing my 20 years of experience in Jewish education and my endless fascination with interdisciplinary research, I am now helping Parent Lab create a compassionate, reliable, and accurate parenting education platform for mobile devices, the HelloJoey app. Leading a team of passionate and skillful research associates, I guide curriculum design, develop work processes within the team and across departments, and make sure that parents get information that is research-based, scientifically accurate, respectful of children's development, and nurturing of the parent-child relationship. We then work together with field experts to translate these into practical at-home activities and parenting tools. -

As a leader on our instructional team, I occasionally teach professional development sessions to my fellow teachers and spearheaded a major Hebrew curriculum revision, including moving to levels based on skill assessment rather than grade. I also design and teach arts classes, including mindful doodling, kippah-making, book-binding, knitting, and Hebrew calligraphy. At Kol Emeth, I took part in year three of the NESS program and have been trained in the Responsive Classroom system of classroom management as well as Project-Based Learning (PBL).The other major part of my work at Kol Emeth involves leading family prayer experiences on Shabbat mornings and holidays. My services (for tots and families K-2) emphasize habits of mindfulness, gratitude, playfulness, and curiosity, as well as scaffolded liturgical skills and choreography. -
