I worked in this independently run 6 vet mixed animal practice for 2 years. It had a busy on call rota, with 1 in 4 weekdays and 1 in 2 weekends. I saw a wide variety of cases involving small and large animals. I experienced a true mixed practice working life, undertaking caesareans in all species, obstetrics, colics etc. I also began to develop an interest in small animal surgery, becoming confident with many procedures during my time there.
