I love people. I’m the friend you bring to Starbucks who ends up walking out with the phone number of your barista and a plan to see that movie we just talked about for ten minutes while they made my drink. My mission when I go into retail spaces is to make the employees smile and feel like human beings again; I worked ten years in the sales and retail industry, and I know how long those days can be. My outgoing and friendly nature informed my behaviour at my sales jobs and ensured that I received perfect scores on every customer satisfaction survey, and my passion for making people feel respected, valued, and listened to made me an excellent trainer for my fellow staff members. I truly believe the way to ensure happiness in your employees at a sales job is to make staff feel supported, knowledgeable, and confident, so I went out of my way in my training to make sure they felt all of those things. My passion for helping others branched out unexpectedly during the pandemic to helping small businesses with their social media design and engagement. Customer service in the 2020’s is no longer only done in person or on the phone; it also happens in Instagram comments, in Twitter direct messages, and in Facebook groups, and there is a need for employees who can fill that space and ensure customers feel valued. Did you know customers expect a response to a question on social media within a few hours? Successfully responding to a request in that time frame is great customer service, and that’s my passion. I’m an outgoing introvert; I am upbeat and passionate for an entire day at work but when I get home I like to relax with a great book. I have been reading and writing nonstop since I learned how. I have a deep love and respect for the written word, which is why I finished my Honours degree in English Literature almost a year early at Trent University. I also received an essay-writing award in my first year and contributed work to a student anthology which was published under the name "Chicken Scratch." I analyze cover letters for grammatical errors, I make email drafts sound more professional, and I spell-check for friends who work in various industries. I love to perfect, to guide, and to make others (at work and home) feel respected, secure, and confident.
