There are few things in this world that will light me up as much as an evidence-driven, creative solution to a complex and multifaceted challenge. And getting to turn around and share that solution with the world? Communicate it effectively through a variety of digital or traditional marketing and media channels? There's no way I'd rather spend my day. I like to focus my storytelling on showing, rather than telling, often pairing it with video. I've created memorable characters for commercials and facilitated testimonials that change the conversation. I'm most known for my high energy levels, laughter, and a diverse knowledge base. Outside of my marketing and communications career, I'm an herbalist and an activist. I used my Master's Degree in herbal medicine to create a line of award-winning body care products, each designed to take beauty beyond skin deep: hair serums that promote hair growth, germ-killing hand balms, alkaline toners, and lotion that soothes the nervous system. I use my business, Impact Botanicals, as a force of activism. After the landmark Citizens United case in 2010, I decided I could no longer simply "be the change"- I had to actively create it. Our biggest societal challenges are systemic, and they need systemic solutions. Impact Botanicals is designed and being built for exactly that- being a force of system, positive, community-centered change. I've worked in many industries- all based around data and evidence, always in a marketing and communications or entrepreneurial role: nutrition, wellness, policy research, hospitals, universities, private-practice, bio-tech, and data management technology. I've been a program manager, a people manager, a writer, a speaker, a consultant, a university teacher, a fundraiser, an advocate, a master-organizer, and an entrepreneur. I continue to publish and speak as an herbalist and as an activist.
