Hebrew school & youth group events were the highlights of my week growing up, and I dreamed of spending my time working to make Jewish learning & community programming as engaging to others as I had always found it to be. I began working as a madricha (teaching assistant) in Hebrew school in eighth grade, a year before most teens were invited to join the program at the time, and I reveled in the chance to create my first lesson plans and activities for students. Since beginning to teach my own Hebrew and religious school classes once I turned eighteen, I've learned from my co-teachers, directors, & students that the desire to learn is a natural instinct that flourishes in the right setting with the proper educative resources. Nurturing that setting and curating those perfect resources can prove challenging even in ideal situations; with the natural limitations of supplemental Jewish education, I've seen every one of the near-dozen schools I've worked in struggle to balance the demands of excellence in Jewish education with the realities of limited time, budget, & staffing.Putting those years of experience and my Masters in Jewish Education to use, I started gathering lists of available resource for the schools I work with to round out their curricula. I quickly found that the goals of supplemental schools are necessarily very specific to be feasible in a short time frame, and few resources fit those goals perfectly enough for my taste. So I set to work creating my own: Prayer Karaoke videos for mixed-media learning, self-paced prayer and Hebrew letter packets, standalone worksheets, holiday project plans, & more. Then I met with teachers & school administrators to integrate these resources into their classrooms. I continue to work with synagogues and schools to tailor programs and both print & digital materials to their envisioned curricula. My vision is to empower learners to advance their own Jewish literacy alongside the educators who serve as their guides.
