About Rachel Benton

🚀 Passion for Learning and Innovation 🤖 My academic journey weaves through diverse disciplines with undergraduate degrees in chemical engineering and international studies. This blend has equipped me with technical expertise and a broad social perspective, enriching my approach to complex challenges.Currently pursuing a PhD in Human Factors Psychology at NCSU where my research focuses on human-robot interaction, diminished reality as a cognitive aid, and their diverse applications in automation. I find joy in the process of research, continually seeking new ways to bridge the gap between technology and human cognition.A generalist in the best way, I've united my technical and interpersonal skills into a professional career as a training engineer with Beckhoff Automation. Here, I've led the design and implementation of industry training courses. With over five years of experience in this role, I have helped grow the TwinCAT knowledge base for thousands of engineers and technicians.I like to explore in my personal time as well as a voracious reader and an avid traveler. I have a great love for the outdoors and hope to visit every US national park!

  • Beckhoff Automation
    Training Engineer
Beckhoff Automation Nov 2018 - Present
    Verl, De
At Beckhoff Automation, I lead technical training initiatives to empower our customers to solve their automation challenges. As the team subject matter expert in TwinCAT Vision, HMI, and Object-Oriented Programming, I have independently developed comprehensive training courses from scratch. Beyond in-person trainings, through developing eLearning modules, I've helped expand our reach to over 1,100 active users, providing on-demand, scalable learning solutions. Across all my deliverables, I apply instructional design principles by chunking content into manageable sections, incorporating interactive elements to enhance engagement, and grounding the material in real-world scenarios that our customers face. This approach ensures that learners can not only absorb the infromation more effectively, but also apply it to practical challenges in their work.My ability to adapt training content to meet the needs of diverse audiences - from technical teams to executives - has been key in ensuring the success of these programs. Additionally, I work closely with stakeholders aross departments, including sales and product management, to identify training opportunities that drive adoption and support customer success.
