Consultant - Business Operations & MarketingRachel Boone Consulting Jun 2016 - PresentIn 2016, three companies came to me around the same time and asked me to help them hire someone like me. I told them that they could not hire someone like me for two reasons. One, in my over 20 years in this business, I have never met someone who has the breadth of experience that I have, and two, there was no way that small companies could afford someone with my expertise. I have always been someone who looks outside the box for solutions and does not get stopped by the first roadblock. With that, I told all of them to let me ponder on this question and I would get back to them. After much thought, I offered myself up as a Consultant. At first, it stayed strictly in the marketing space. Over time, I moved into business operations. As my companies grew, I grew with them. More and more of my time was spent in business development. I have always had a passion for design and I learned that my true gifts lie in operations. It was then that I went back to school and received my Executive MBA (Masters in Business Administration) from Wash U (Washington University).During my time at Wash U, one of the big questions was "what is next?". I know that I could easily go work for a large company as a COO (Chief Marketing Officer) or CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) and this is not a fulfillment of who I am. My heart and passion lie with small and mid-size businesses.I am a unique mix of knowledge. I can design anything and handle programming a website. I am one of the only designers I know who have worked in a print shop and mailing house. This experience leads to knowing the best way to design for print and for mailing. When it comes to business, I not only ran my own marketing agency for over 10 years, I partnered with another one and I have an Executive MBA. I am the perfect unicorn mix of book smarts and street smarts. If I do not know an answer, I can guarantee you that I will find it or find someone who does know it.
