Initiated redesign of surgical device collections bins with potential to earn $9 mil in recovered saleable product by mitigating gross device damage. Conducted interviews and surveys to identify user needs from over 200 key stakeholders, converted pain points to user needs, developed two mechanical test methods, performed testing on predicate devices to identify root cause, and consolidated all data into design inputs. Generated user requirement specifications for a modular 3D printed cradle capable of securing laparoscopic surgical devices during Instron testing. Reduced the time from proof of concept to initial feasibility testing by up to 5 months. Performed feasibility tests on cradle and implemented design changes for improvements. Developed and validated a novel test method for a Class II laparoscopic bipolar sealer to quantify shaft straightness. Created a MSA test plan, trained all operators, performed statistical analysis on the Gage R&R analysis, establishing an acceptance criteria for the process specification.
