Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Managed an interdisciplinary team of environmental catalysts to tackle plastic pollution in Halifax and led comprehensive design thinking training to develop an innovative climate action strategy. This training equipped my team to conduct community needs assessments, analyze meaningful data, and identify actionable insights to effectively engage community members in the global fight against climate change.Leading the design and delivery of 3 project pitches, I successfully secured $2,000 in grant funding to support our initiatives. In collaboration with 30 other teams across Halifax and Calgary, I fostered strong relationships with fellow leads and maintained effective communication with program staff, mentors, and local stakeholders. This collaborative effort led to the creation of the A.W.A.R.E. initiative, an interactive social media campaign that bridged climate education with direct action. Reaching over 100 community members to adopt sustainable practices and reduce plastic waste and supporting 5 waste-free local businesses, we promoted mutually beneficial solutions to streamline climate action in daily life.

Zanzibar Urban/West, Tanzania

Collaborated with female entrepreneurs involved to provide tailored support in building entrepreneurial skills and advancing social innovation. In partnership with local non-profits and government agencies, I designed and delivered 3 capacity-building workshops to connect entrepreneurs with the essential insights and resources for growing and scaling their solutions for climate-smart agriculture and waste management.Partnered with the Director and Youth Empowerment Officers of Zanzibar's Ministry of Youth to confront intersecting barriers facing young people in their transition to adulthood. While supporting the delivery of life skills training and education at youth centers, I designed an extensive three-month training program called 'Youth Professional Development.'Attended Zanzibar's preliminary launch meeting for the 'Eastern and Southern Africa Ministerial Commitment Coordination for the Health and Well-Being of Youth.' Focused on collaboration and strategic planning to address gender-based violence, unintended youth pregnancy, and teenage marriages - designing frameworks for comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education and equal access to essential services. Contributed to planning and executing 4 engaging activities for International Youth Day 2023. During the event, I proudly represented Youth Challenge International on stage alongside His Excellency President Hussein Ali Mwinyi, advocating for youth as agents of change.I remain actively involved with the HerStart program as a HerStart alumni mentor; sharing insights and experiences with future fellows.
