About Rachel E. Blackburn, Ph.D., M.F.A.

My passion for storytelling and strategic communication has been the cornerstone of my career, enabling me to craft compelling narratives across diverse industries and audiences. Initially, this took the form of directing theatre, where I project managed, directed live events & productions, and supervised teams of 100+ for production companies across London, UK, Dublin, IE, Toronto, ON, and all around the U.S. As I craved new challenges, I delved into teaching in higher ed, curriculum development, research and writing/editing, while publishing for a variety of spaces. These include book chapters, articles, blogs, help center instructions, newsletters, and more. I continue (and love!) to teach workshops, present at conferences, and deliver public presentations. Most recently, I've been a content manager, learning consultant, and in communications for the SaaS realm, helping customers and internal folks learn a SaaS product for UX research practices. I also assist in managing online customer Community spaces, serve as an ERG community impact chair, as well as volunteer with One World to assess grant applications for non-profit organizations. I am always 100% committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility in all spaces, and desirous to listen and learn. It is my honor to collaborate with SMEs across industries to deliver quality work, to help others upskill and grow, and to communicate with kindness and positive energy. And no matter the endeavor, I believe in always leading and supporting from a place of empathy. And gentle humor, when professionally appropriate... Key areas of expertise:- instructional design, curriculum development, class facilitation, teaching- writing, editing, publication- conference and workshop creation, presentation- research (qualitative, academic, UX/UI, analysis)- communications and content management- storytelling, audiences, and client engagement- DEIB & intersectional identity, cultural awareness- project management, event planning- collaboration, improvisation, kindness
