Senior Human Resources Generalist
Current• Responsible for managing all HR operations and strategies for the following departments consisting of ~ 900 employees: Engineering, Water, Solid Waste, Events Services, Police, and Fire Department.• Provide guidance to directors and supervisors on company policies and employment regulations. Coach city leadership on performance management including disciplinary and corrective actions. • Provide expert advice to leadership on creating department-specific policies and role-specific operating procedures. Develop and implement staffing strategies that maximize efficiency.• Evaluate HR strategies to determine areas of improvement. Develop and implement process enhancements. • Analyze recruiting/sourcing process to develop efficiencies and improve quality of candidate selection. Produce retention results that improve business efficiencies and recruiting costs.• Partner with 50+ recruiters and professionals at various universities and workforce job fairs; collaborate with hiring managers to prepare and modify job descriptions to accommodate the hiring manager’s needs.• Perform background checks and employment verifications, make placement recommendations, and facilitate hiring decision discussions for certain positions at leadership’s request.Accomplishments:o In an effort to reduce employee turnover and retain talent, took the initiative to create a survey to collect employee feedback. Successfully achieved 100% employee participation in the survey. After a thorough analysis of the provided feedback. Proceeded to interview employees and later discussed proposed improvements or recommendations with department managers. This resulted in a 28% improvement in employee retention rate. o Coordinated semi-annual safety observance to foster employee goodwill and appreciate the workforce as well as remind them of the importance of staying hydrated.o Trained 7 managers on best practices for effective management including strategic planning and communication.
