I chose to attend Rush University's PA program for a number of reasons, but the one reason that stands out the most is for the advanced clinical practice opportunity built into this amazing program. After completing my core rotations and two elective rotations, I went on to complete 6 months of advanced clinical practice in Emergency Medicine. This additional training sets me apart from other new grads as it has allowed me to gain more clinical experience in a variety of ED settings throughout Chicago as well as begin thinking and acting like a provider under the excellent mentorship from my preceptors.

As a Patient Care Technician, I was responsible for direct care of patients being treated in the Emergency Department. My role included taking patient vital signs, performing EKGs and blood work, reporting and recording patient information to nurses and physicians, and assisting nurses and physicians in patient care or procedures.
