I recruited law students from all over the state to assist in voter protection efforts at respective law schools. I also used digital tools to engage new volunteers, educate voters, and highlight our work on the ground.

The CCRI program at the University of Miami School of Law gives students a chance to work on projects to combat online abuses that threaten civil rights and civil liberties.During my time with CCRI, I worked with a team to write an amicus brief regarding sexual assault victims and First Amendment protections. Such work required various kinds of research, including legal, media, and scientific. I also assisted in researching and monitoring legislation relating to "revenge porn"/"nonconsensual pornography" (the distribution of sexually graphic images of individuals without their consent).

The Human Rights Clinic (HRC) works for the promotion of social and economic justice globally and in the U.S. Students gain firsthand experience in cutting-edge human rights litigation and advocacy at the local, national, regional, and international levels. This includes engaging with the United Nations, Inter-American Court and Commission on Human Rights, European Court of Human Rights, African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights, and other tribunals. Focus areas include gender justice, racial justice and immigrant rights, and economic and social rights.HRC draws on international human rights laws and norms, along with domestic law and policy. It engages in multidimensional advocacy strategies, which include documentation and report-writing, litigation, media engagement, work with legislative and administrative bodies, campaigning, community organizing, and global networking to develop practical solutions and promote accountability on the part of state and non-state actors. HRC works closely with local, state, national, and global partners.During my time in the HRC, I worked on various projects, including: gender-based violence and immigrants, Jessica Lenahan (Gonzalez) v. United States, and petty offenses as a tool to discriminate against marginalized communities. I assisted in writing an affidavit for immigrant domestic violence victims. I also submitted an amicus brief to the African Court of Human and Peoples’ Rights about discriminatory use of vagrancy laws on marginalized communities.

The Immigration Clinic provides a challenging opportunity for students to advocate on behalf of immigrants in a wide variety of complex immigration proceedings. In addition to helping individual clients, students collaborate with other immigrant rights groups on projects that reform the law and advance the cause of social justice for immigrants. During my summer working with the Immigration Clinic, I had the opportunity to interview detainees, prepare submissions to Immigration Court, review Immigration Court decisions, and prepare and submit a successful appellate brief to Immigration Court.

I developed and executed a marketing plan, including maintaining the website and social media content. I also represented the company at the Natural Products Expo West 2016.
