About Rachel Gogel

I am a Parisian creative director, graphic designer, educator, and speaker based in San Francisco. I run my own independent consultancy where my approach is informed by experiences both in-house and agency side. As a fractional design executive and queer leader, I believe in fostering inclusive spaces that unlock human potential. Specifically, I am committed to designing teams that build brands — with a focus on culture and technology. Over the last sixteen years, I have led major initiatives at GQ, The New York Times, Meta, Godfrey Dadich, Departures, Airbnb, and Dropbox. Now consulting as a solopreneur, I've influenced many exciting projects for my clients including: leading organizational design efforts, shaping employee experiences and culture programs, coaching design leaders, designing book covers and TV show pitch decks for public figures and media executives, advising on new publication launches, and developing brand identity systems. Beyond this, I seek to influence the next creative generation as a design educator at the California College of the Arts (CCA). I am also a mentor on ADPList and Talk To A Creative Director as well as an active member of Queer Design Club and Neol. All of these platforms amplify my commitment to supporting women- and nonbinary-led causes and addressing gender-based disparities in the design industry.Check out more of my work on my website (rachelgogel.com) and feel free to follow me at @rgogel on Instagram, Threads, and X (Twitter).

'Creative Jobs. The List.', which launched in July 2011, was a social networking newsletter that instantly connected people I knew in the industry by providing job listings along with direct contact information for those seeking employment. This closed newsletter, which had only acquired subscribers through word of mouth, went from having 60 to over 2500+ members in a short amount of time. By keeping it private within my network and my contacts' networks, I could guarantee a more trustworthy service. In fact, I was already indirectly referring you if you were receiving 'The List.' and testimonials expressed faster response to job inquiries after listing this networking tool as a source. Several friends/contacts found jobs and got interviews thanks to this resource.
