About Rachel Johnstone
I’m proud to work in health and social care, setting up and supporting specialist nursing services for families living with dementia, in collaboration with NHS Trusts, hospitals, primary care, hospices, and care homes. Dementia care is my passion, and as well as being fortunate enough to work for the charity, Dementia UK, I volunteer at a Rare Dementia Support Group and have written a book on intergenerational activities for families affected by dementia. I have recently (2022) completed my Master of Science in Healthcare Management, Leadership and Innovation and my dissertation was an Inquiry into Moral Injury and Leadership in a resource-constrained healthcare system. Previously, in my professional and personal life, I have worked with young people through the Restorative Justice system, organised 'Reminiscence Tours' for people living with dementia and their carers, ran a peer support group for younger people diagnosed with dementia, supported community organisers to expand their community services, directed a small educational publishing company (including co-creating a book with five women from a hostel about their battles with drug and alcohol addiction) and helped to provide Mobile Chemotherapy Units, an innovative way to deliver cancer care.
Listed skills include Fundraising, Charities, Event Management, Coaching, and 19 others.
