I am the only communications resource for the Agency, and provide strategic direction and general advice on communications matters. The role sits within the Office of the Chief Executive, and I have recently developed the Agency’s Strategic Intentions and Briefing to the Incoming Chief Executive. I have gradually expanded my responsibilities while in this role to include general advice, strategic advice and some ministerial support. Recent projects I have delivered are a strategic narrative, communications strategy and a brand evolution. I work closely with people across the organisation and with our organisational partners in the social sector, facilitating hui, events and producing strategic collateral. I am also a safe pair of hands in a tricky situation, and am frequently assisting the team to manage the Agency’s reputation and delivery of advice to the social sector.While at the Agency, I completed a secondment to our GovTech 2019 team, hosted by Creative HQ. I completed a secondment to SWA's GovTech 2019 team, hosted by Creative HQ. Team Manawa was a collaboration between SWA and two Māori service providers and produced a tool to collect and amplify whānau voice. As part of this tool, we tested a new measurement for wellbeing, underpinned by Te Whare Tapa Whā. I provided my communications expertise to this project, developing our messaging and branding, as well as managing media interest. Our team was supported by the Westpac Innovation Fund.Successes include:• Developing a tool to collect and amplify whānau voice in the social sector • Developing the marketing and communications messaging and tactical approaches• Securing $800,000 in funding for Phase 2 from the DIA Government Partnership Innovation Fund• Publishing a case-study with the Westpac Innovation Fund on Manawa

My role required me to support a number of IT projects that were commissioned as part of the transformation of Fire and Emergency New Zealand. I developed communications strategies with the project team and executed tactical aspects such as writing articles, blogs and intranet pages, as well as any larger pieces such as videos. I was also part of our media roster where I was responsible for fielding media queries and arranging interviews with appropriate spokespeople.My successes included:• Developing and executing strategic communications plans for high-priority IT projects• Deployment to the Pigeon Valley Fire (Feb 2019) in the control centre for emergency communications advisory• Fielding and responding to media enquiries in emergency situations

I delivered a dynamic database that mapped and categorised stakeholders for the Communications Strategy of the second phase of the Regional Housing Project. This involved bringing together the stakeholders in more than 30 interlinked developments and coding the level to which they would be affected. To complete this, I worked with a range of specialists within HNZ to gather their knowledge for the database.A scaleable and working database was delivered at the conclusion of this contract.

I was primarily responsible for partnering with venues around the country. As the company sells marketing services to partners, the course of my role required me to develop and execute communications strategies for these partnerships. This included writing social media content, blogs and interviews.Town Square is a Wellington-based platform that enables people make the most of their leisure time. I was responsible for leading a team of of 9 analysts to process data and brief clients on how their media strategies were performing over time, as well as remaining on top of any breaking issues of interest to them. I worked with clients to hone and customise their reporting needs so that they were equipped with the most relevant data they needed to continue with their strategies. My clients included the Australian Federal Department of Defence, MFE and MBIE. Each day I delivered briefings to over 10,000 recipients.My successes include:• Pro-actively maintaining relationships with clients to ensure their needs are met by our service, which involves meeting with them and assessing how we can assist in their media strategies• Updating and improving product delivery flow to ensure accuracy, efficiency and satisfaction• Establishing and maintaining a communications plan to engage the wider team of 20+ editors with our team goals• Integrating the weekend team with the weekday team through building a strong communication pathway and focusing on team dynamics• Improving report accuracy across the whole team (20 editors) to 90% from 70%• Reducing late delivery of service to less than 5%
