  • Ronald Mcdonald House Of Southern New Jersey
Founder & Director Of Teen Advisory Council
Ronald Mcdonald House Of Southern New Jersey Sep 2011 - Aug 2014
    Camden, New Jersey, Us
Founded, implemented and directed the Teen Advisory Council for 40+ teenagers from over 20 high schools throughout New Jersey. This program was first founded at American University's School of Public Affairs Leadership Program where I identified the problem of the lack of leadership development in non-profit organizations and I wrote a Policy Memo and Project Proposal that I presented to Ronald McDonald House of SNJ. The pilot program was accepted in December, 2011 and from its initial success I have been able to critically analyze the Council in order for its current growth and sustainability.I yearly manage an average of 20 high school fundraisers and 12 in-house activities with the children residing at the House. In addition, I lead the Executive Council of 10 high school students who serve as the leaders for the Council. The last three years I initiated and organized a bowling fundraiser “Spare Some Love”. Through ticket sales, raffle donations and sponsorships the event in 2011 raised $8,300, 2012 raised $10,000, and 2013 over $16,000 with a cumulative total of over 1,000 attendees. At the end of each year, I lead discussions to help the Council come to consensus of how to donate the raised funds. Since 2011 the Council has been able to donate back to the House $25,000. In 2011 the Council sponsored a bedroom at the House with the theme "Candyland". I worked with muralists and Jellio, a custom furniture company, to make the board game come to life. In 2012, the Council donated the money to sponsor a playroom, donated two ipads, and paid for transportation for the children to and from the hospital. This year the Council expects to raise an additional $20,000 to donate to the House.
